Thanks @kevinbonham this provides an excellent example of how the senate system works. Unfortunately parties like UAP put up candidates like Babet and then spend millions to get them elected. And to be honest I am hoping to win the 6th senate spot in the 2025 election :)

Found an interesting document on the history of prohibition and in particular tobacco. As Australian govts continue to use penalties and prohibition maybe they can take some inspiration here. #vaping #prohibitiondoesnotwork

@neutrinomoon @by_deane Of course the opposition here is not better. In my state they introduced their own prohibition legislation But our incumbent govt is vulnerable due to a number of issues and this adds to it

@Banana16Eric @KosSamaras He did actually put up a motion of urgency on changing abortion laws which was surprisingly supported by a number of senators

So the bottom line is that he wants to spend less money on education. Fact check the US does not spend more than other countries. They are a fair way down the list.

This November conservative states such as Florida and North Dakota will vote to legalise and the regulate adult use of cannabis. And it will become legal at a federal level soon. Lovely hearing @ricksteves simply explaining why cannabis should be legal
