The evidence is unequivocal: assisted dying laws are safe, fulfilling their aims of relieving suffering & offering dying people choice. #AssistedDyingBill

@STAGEDOC Absolute rubbish. In Australia and NZ it is strictly limited to the terminally ill. And in Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg terminal illness has never been the criteria - it has always been unbearable suffering. Stop telling lies

I want to pay tribute to @sarah_wootton who has given the #Assisteddying campaign such superb leadership for so long. Radical humility with an absence of ego but always with a strategic focus. She has built the best campaign team and movement for change @dignityindying

@severnaya66 To even raise this as an argument in the current debate is despicable. It is an insult to terminally ill people and to the memory of the Holocaust. Do better.

Congratulations to everyone who worked tirelessly, sometimes over decades, to see this reform in the UK. Protecting vulnerable terminally ill people and giving them choice at the end of life is a sign of a truly compassionate society 💞👏
Today, MPs have voted for choice, safety and compassion. They have expressed the will of the British people and have made history. Thank you to everyone who has campaigned with us for choice and control at the end of life. This could not have happened without you #YesToDignity

It is also offensive to ignore the vast majority of terminally ill people and the public who desperately want this choice at the end of life, and to ignore the years of evidence from Australia and NZ that says these laws are safe and compassionate.
It is offensive to hear all those MPs arguing for assisted suicide as a 'progressive' measure when they are doing nothing to help fix the rotting social care system that wrecks so many lives of sick, elderly and disabled citizens (and often their families) through its inadequacy

@DrCalumMiller The research you quote makes it very clear that the 40% has nothing to do with assisted dying but the practice of routine terminal sedation and deaths after increased pain control. These are standard practices in palliative care. Stop peddling lies.

@yuanyi_z This is absolute rubbish. You should be ashamed of spreading such willful misinformation. Everyone in Oregon qualified and was accepted for assisted dying because they were terminally ill, dying imminently and suffering intolerably.

@GeorgiaBanjo And when we say religion we mean religious leaders. The vast majority of the religious public, like the public in general, are in support of choice the end of life.

@drcrouchback In Australia and NZ, the evidence base is clearly in favour of safeguarded assisted dying laws. What evidence are you looking at?

It is extraordinary that the UK has not looked to Australia & NZ on assisted dying. Almost 6yrs of experience, showing AD laws are safe & working as intended. The fear mongering is baseless. The status quo is cruel & unacceptable. #assisteddyingbill

@NathanielD93744 The religious influence in this debate cannot be underestimated. The evidence from Australia and NZ is clear: assisted dying laws are safe and compassionate. No one has the right to tell us we should suffer for their beliefs.

@historykev From Australia we wish all MPs would look to the evidence from Australia and NZ. Assisted dying laws are safe and compassionate and dying people are grateful for the choice not to suffer unnecessarily.

The Australian and NZ experience is unequivocal. Don't listen to the naysayers. Listen to the evidence. Assisted dying is compassionate and safe. The status quo is unacceptable.
On Friday MPs will vote on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. This is a historic opportunity. MPs must remember that dying people are depending on them to do the right thing; to vote for choice, for safety, and for compassion.
