As an aspiring cardiologist i didn’t take A/L on my Cardiology F1 rotation so i can make the most of the exposure on Cardiology. (Major L, I was left on the ward to do ward jobs anyway). I requested STUDY LEAVE to attend clinics. Can you appreciate why this is infuriating?

Anyway, back to writing my case report (for free 🤪) and audit for the cardiology department (for free 🤪) after i’ve just finished my locum shift today on top of a 45 hour week 🤪 and 4hr daily commute to attend my training job🤪. Then bit of MRCP revision so i don’t lose £460🤪

The difference is I am supposedly on a training programme. I selected a 2 yr track purely for the 4 months Cardiology in which I expected to have adequate exposure (for an F1). The consultants encouraged us to join cath lab/clinics but lack of ward staff meant we couldn’t go

Thank you👏🏼 I am no longer an F1, this was my experience at the time due to staffing. We didn’t have PA’s. I can see how having them on the ward would help facilitate JD training, but i am afraid if they employed for this reason, no sooner would they be in cath lab doing up TAVI

FY2 here, on my last rotation I shared a wooden ledge at a patient bedside on a stroke ward. (Said ledge later removed to make space for an extra bed). Then getting told off for blocking fire exits and pt confidentiality issues when working in corridors. So demoralising!

Lets not forget the time i successfully cannulated a patient but then they asked the male doctor with me to do the ABG. Apparently I didn’t look like ‘i had the strength’ for an ABG 😊😊

Literally no one has said they don’t. Good that Pret workers are paid fairly for making coffee, so why are junior doctors not paid fairly for their work? My Qol was better working as a barista, than as it is now as a junior doctor working in poor conditions.
