Attended a meeting of “The Joint Committee on Human Rights” on 5th February 2025 at the Palace of Westminster. This session marked the opening of a new inquiry into transnational repression (TR) in the UK, focusing on its impact on various communities and diasporas. Witnesses Included :- Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC @caoilfhionnanna Dr. Andrew Chubb @zhubochubo Laura Harth @LauraHarth Key Recommendations: Establishing a dedicated helpline to support victims of TR, ensuring a human rights-based approach. 🔹Introducing new laws or enhancing existing legislation to strengthen protections. 🔹Implementing mandatory guidelines for government departments to follow when addressing TR cases. 🔹Imposing sanctions on individuals involved in human rights violations, preventing them from entering the UK. 🔹Developing a robust support mechanism for victims, as current arrangements were deemed inadequate. 🔹Providing psychosocial support alongside legal assistance for those affected. During the session, Ms. Harth emphasized the importance of mental health and social support for victims. Dr. Chubb presented data on the impact of TR on academia, while Ms. Gallagher revealed attempts to access sensitive data belonging to lawyers and journalists. The committee chair praised the witnesses for their contributions and assured them that the committee would carefully review all recommendations. The committee also committed to developing guidelines for the government, including potential sanctions against perpetrators. #TransnationalRepression

We strongly condemn the crackdown on the convoy of protesters. Every individual has the right to freedom of assembly. We urge the authorities to restore internet access in the area. #EnforcedDisappearances
I appeal to human rights organizations to immediately take notice of the internet blackout in Dalbandin and actively intervene to prevent a potential crackdown on the peaceful Baloch national gathering. Such actions not only stifle freedom of expression and assembly but also set a dangerous precedent of suppressing dissent through force and digital censorship. I urge these organizations to pressure the authorities to restore internet services without delay and to ensure that the fundamental rights of the Baloch people to assemble peacefully and voice their concerns are respected. The international community must not remain silent in the face of these repressive measures, as their silence could embolden further human rights violations in the Balochistan. #StopBalochGenocide
