What’s more, I would say it wasn’t the cultural elements of wokism that people got fed up with - there has not, unfortunately, been a great moral uprising against sexual perversion or even the idea of truth being subjective. What people rebelled against were the policies - losing their jobs because of DEI, getting shut out of social media for “misgendering,” etc. it was only in the ways that these perversion impacted them personally (ie, policy, ie, politics) that people truly rebelled. For many, even now, the morals and culture is actually secondary

@Pathfinder4545 @William_E_Wolfe “Woke” has typically been considered a political matter, to say that it was actually culture is to change the terms of the argument. The very fact that they can be conflated makes the debate irrelevant.

I can piss off all parties with my singular opinion that Gulf of Mexico is better because it’s the more America-centric name. If you’re in America, “Gulf of Mexico” tells you where the gulf is. Which gulf? The one down toward Mexico. But the Gulf of America tells you no such thing. It could be up in the north or on the west coast. Any body of water we touch could be “of America”

What’s even worse is that this can apply to salvation itself. As Christians, we’ve been told by better-than-thou pietous leaders that evangelism meant letting go of politics and remaining neutral. Meanwhile, again and again in the old testament, we see “politics” (absurdly broad as they tend to describe the category) being used as the primary way God disciplines Israel and calls them to repentance. And not only that, but it works - fromthe cycle of oppression in Judges to the rebuilding of the wall in Nehemiah. God interacts with this world through kings and nations. It too is a way to see Him. And only wolves in shepherds clothes have demanded you turn a blind eye to it. Repentance is also, far more often than most would care to admit, downstream of politics.

@aelfred_D So if Trump does something Hitler did it’s problematic and if Trump does something Hitler didn’t do it’s problematic 🤣
