I am a Black law professor with locs. I earned tenure with locs. I’ve taught students with locs. I’ve gone to court & advocated on behalf of clients with locs. I didn’t have to cut off my locs to do any of those things. Stop colonizing our children’s minds.

It’s worth remembering the men who killed Ahmad Aubrey originally faced no charges. It took cell phone video of the murder being leaked online to put pressure on state officials to intervene. There can never truly be justice in a system that operates in such a manner.

If they can come for Roe v Wade, don’t assume that cases once considered sacrosanct- Brown v bd of education for example, are off limits. I’m not being an alarmist, I’m being a realist about this moment in time & the goals of this project. #DobbsvJackson

@EscaflowneClown This. We don't talk enough about how prevalent this is. Always want to cast killings as an individual case when it keeps happening over and over again.

@nytimes Most other employers are so crappy that Amazon comes along and offers more than a crappier employer like Walmart so it looks like Amazon is doing right by its employees. We've allowed the bar to get so low, people cannot see what should be & accept less than their worth.

@morgan_sung Cuz as a fellow pell grant qualifee it meant your family was down bad finacially. I got a pell grant but also had to work 2, sometimes 3, part time jobs on top of full time school to get through it. I was envious of the folks who went to class & thats it.

@el_tragon_de_LA She asks for space and privacy to reflect, with no apology. She may as well have ended by saying “I said what I said.”

@uche_blackstock @stephenasmith Horrified. This is dismissive of the trauma Jones’ mere presence there caused & ignores the plethora of recent anti-black actions by Jones-e.g.,his comments on Kapernick,a 2013 video with him commenting on a white man being w/a blk girl, etc.Recent receipts are readily available

@GameTheoryHBO Deion is a good example of why racial diversity alone does not necessarily equal liberation. More black police officers doesn’t stop extrajudicial killings of black people. More black coaches doesn’t stop the exploitation of young black men. Same systems, just different actors.

@marclamonthill She is doing what the young people call “securing the bag.” She’s a college dropout with no expertise but she was clever enough to figure out that being a black republican talking head with no qualifications except parroting anti-black rhetoric pays well.

At some point we need to have the conversation about the judges role in perpetuating the eviction crises. Especially where there is room to exercise discretion like here.

In Fulton County eviction court today: tenant says he’s approved for rental assistance but payment hasn’t been made. Judge won’t reset case and gives him 10 minutes to check with case worker, who says payment may take 7-14 days. Landlord then asks for eviction. Judge approves.

@Phil_Lewis_ This is similar to the states shutting down schools rather than integrating. USC would rather shut it down than allow a diversity of speech that they are assuming some will find offensive.

via ⁦⁦⁩Since it originated with efforts to prevent labor organizing & patrol slaves, modern policing has punished the poor. No number of diversity workshops, body cameras and community policing initiatives will change that.

@jemelehill This is true. But I would say there are Black women too who just want Black men to have better access to patriarchy b-c they bought they fairytale that it will lead to liberation for all of us. It will not. We need to talk about patriarchy AND systemic racism.
