Wow, a hole-punch cloud, AKA a fallstreak hole! This cloud forms when the water temp within the cloud is below 32°F but the water has yet to freeze. As parts of the water begin to freeze, water vapor around the cloud freezes, leaving a strange hole in the middle.

Our next weather warn is Wed. A multifaced storm will bring gusty winds, heavy snow, and rain to our area. Gusty winds will be a primary threat, with SE gusts between 40-55mph. Snow too for the mtn areas, ski resorts receiving 10-15". Rain will be heavy, around 1.5".

With a very dark sky ahead (the moon will be 2% full), there is a very good chance to catch the Aurora Borealis from Saturday night into Sunday. Auroral activity is set to be high with a Kp of 6.
