Our biggest this year didn’t make it past mid August. This is the inside of an estimated 1400 lb pumpkin. The end opposite the stem (blossom end) is almost always thinnest. Sometimes they grow too fast and crack open there. This one was fun to watch grow!

This male snowy owl was spotted in coastal ME last week. Sherrie tells me she uses a 600 mm lens to photograph the birds from a long distance. Expert's suggest too much close contact with humans can stress the snowy owls, and it's recommended to provide them with plenty of space.
