It’s in preparation for New Year’s Eve and the DOE flys these runs often to get the background radiation to calibrate the smaller Rad pagers, backpack detectors and vehicle detectors that we carry year round!! It’s freaking based in southern Nevada so no it’s not a coincidence!

I never understood how Native Hawaiians don’t get the same state/federal recognition and benefits as Native Alaskans and Indian tribes? Make the island a Reservation and then the local Native council can decide what type of tourism you want on your island.

Calibration dates don’t stop because of a lockdown. Its also used in case of downwind’ing of nuclear tests from the past. If there was something crazy going on and we were preparing for a known threat we would be way more spun up and I’d move my family out in the boondocks

That is really bad. I was deployed there in the late 1990’s and it was full on border war then. We installed a government that was actually American or very friendly to US shortly after they lost USSR $$. We thought it was going to be next Cuban missile crisis but it just ended.

I will say anyone with zero skills in hands on combat stuff don’t make good beat cops. If they are sporadically sprinkled in with good cops it’s fine for the most part. The problem starts when they get seniority and everyone of them is on the dayshift weekends off squad.

I had a USN corpsman that was a bubblehead prior coming to the Fleet Marine Force and used to say every time we got on an aircraft “boys remember - there’s more planes in the ocean than submarines in the skies”. I’m sure he’s laughing at this incident.

Las Vegas is considered the 9th Island. It’s a tourist destination. It was built on land taken away from Paiute tribes (if that is a metric that you need to be considered to count?) a lot of Native Hawaiian’s live in Clark County. We are very connected.

My LT hated my car but the public loved it. It was the filthiest smelliest black & white in Las Vegas because I️ was working 100% of the time. Chain smoking 2 packs a day, living off of coffee. It finally took a written reprimand to get me to take my license plate frame off.

Word yo. When I worked the counterterrorism desk while light duty I would have cops call to report they stopped a car “with a ton of ammo”. One cop said he has “over 150 rounds of 9mm”. I told her “ma’am I am carrying 155 rounds on my duty belt in magazines.” It’s scary.

If you can’t from a tripod mounted, accurized, magnified weapons system you probably shouldn’t be behind the trigger unless you’re just learning how to. Not to be that guy but a boot Marine can hit an Able/Dog target w/loop sling at 300 in the sitting position with iron sights.

Get out and train! Build your stick with good family people and your neighbors. Make sure you can trust them with your family’s lives at minimum pull an overnight firewatch. Help like that doctor or nurse down the road with his house so you can count on them to help you.

They are lucky to be a part of NVPERS though.. CCSD teachers can do just fine with the incentives like the Good Neighbor Next Door program and other teacher home buying grants. It just takes time and you have to actually do a decent job.

This is why every city needs to train with LVMPD and CCFD/LVFD and learn MACTAC. Multi-Assault, Counter Terrorism
Action Capabilities. It is the only way to get medics in and stop the threat in such a quick time. We started the program in 2007 and evolved quick.

Anyone ever had someone crank a live round with a BFA on? I just got lucky while loading loose blanks from a crate and happened to notice a green tip 556 in the mix. We had a safety stand down and found 10 more that had been either already loaded into our mags and in the crate.
