Attention Importers and Public! Jamaica Customs Agency clarifies duty charges: Imports over US$100 will attract Customs charges on FULL declared value. For example, a US$101 shipment will incur duty on the total amount, not just the $1 excess.
If you’ve seen what some of these companies ask for in the JD, there’s no labour shortage. They just want one person to do 4 roles for 1 wage and people are tired of it.
The calls are getting louder from private sector individuals for the Government to start taking steps to mitigate an impending labour crisis that could emerge from the tightening job market with unemployment at a historic low of 4.5 per cent.

Culture is very different from history...if by the same logic then germany could send a representative in a nazi uniform. Rose hall has done great things for the community but our history can't be represented by the same people that infact enslaved your own ancestors
Where did I disclose any information about the vehicle or owner, nor disrespect anybody? This is a GENERAL reminder to people who may not realize or pay attention to this these things, you’re weird by taking it that way.
I get what you're saying but tires are expensive. I wouldn't like random strangers taking pics of my car parts then posting it Twitter for a public discussion. If you really that concern did you wait to see the owner and speak to them privately. Hella weird.
Thanks
@ncbja
for reaching out and resolving my issue. Whatever happened it’s a reminder that at any level the details and decisions matter and as a country we have to be customer centric.
I’d like to add also for those of you who have the privilege of still living at home while working, save and invest even more aggressively and forego the lure of constant online shopping, parties and high end vehicles.
Not sure why but Jamaicans aren't too keen on the sharing things post-college. Everyone wants their own place.
Things that can be shared:
-Rent
-Bills
-Food expenses
A few years of this can really put a dent in your saving and investing goals. Just need to find the right peeps.
I really respect civil servants such as garbage collectors et al. The conditions are usually unconducive, less attractive compensation and little recognition. Salute to you all. Thank you for keeping our lives going.
This was me in paris..trip didnt work out how i planned..met the nicest people who took pics for me and had drinks with me. Now I'm less apprehensive about travelling alone. (I still watch everything like a hawk though)
Traveled to Santorini alone.
A girl approached me and offered to take my photo. We ended up having a full blown photo shoot.
Then we ended up going for dinner & drinks. She was traveling alone too.
Ironically, solo travel has led to more friendships than I ever expected.
The mask wearing requirement will be re-instituted in short order as the world goes into a fifth wave of the COVID19 and as the positivity rate in Jamaica increases.
I am urging Jamaicans to take extra precautions and if you have not yet done so, get vaccinated.

Oh they get paid lol, I’ve seen all types of expats and consultants come and go and all they did was tell us what we already knew and delegated it right back to the locals
Pacing yourself financially is probably one of the most critical decisions you’ll make daily. The ability to not be drawn into fulfilling fleeting lifestyle desires.
While many are worried about being bored and partying, the few of us plan and hunt for opportunities. Never let it be said now we didn’t have the same 24 hours.

Valid point...there's no cookie cutter way of handling this as now slavery driven industries were commercialized. By the same logic then should Las Vegas be torn down because it was predominantly driven by the Italian Mafia and the Teamsters?
Rvssian, Jamaican music producer, singer, and entrepreneur, born Tarik Johnston 30 years ago today on 12 April 1990, in Kingston. His music videos have over two billion views, placing him second only to Sean Paul among active Jamaican artists.
If the facts are being misrepresented then it is the duty of the officials to get ahead of the narrative. We are a small nation, of course an issue like that is of concern to citizens.
Flowers and chocolate are nice...but open that investment acct for her..show her how to pick her own stocks and bonds, sign her up for that biz networking session, show her how to improve operational efficiency in her biz...she'll never forget those gifts.
@mannishwaata
This is excellent...I know it’s a stretch but I hope there’s a path to self sufficiency for some of them. Even if it means helping with upkeep of the facility
Every day I see Senior leaders and management suck the life slowly out of young enthusiastic employees. No wonder they resort to finding their own path.
We must stand for justice for all or we can’t expect justice for ourselves. That’s the hallmark of a true Jamaican, not cowering in a corner saying “that’s not our business”
Jamaica must be about love and peace, sports and music , art and education, we must keep our nose outta other peoples business, we never colonized anyone, attacked anyone and we never will, all who want to war mek dem war, one love….
Too many dunces, it’s actually a good idea, a library could be both, times are changing and the usage should justify the space it occupies. Multi use facilities make more sense.
