This hand-coloured studio photo shows LCpl Kenneth Caldwell of the 2nd Bn, #TheBlackWatch. Enlisting in 1894, he served in the 2nd Boer War in 1899, earning the Queen’s South Africa Medal. Caldwell went missing at the Battle of Magersfontein in Dec 1899 & was later confirmed KIA.

In December 1914, The Black Watch provided a firing party for the funeral of Belgian soldier Sergeant Octave De Cra, killed in an accident in Glenfarg. The photo belonged to William Walker, who served with The Black Watch in India and WWI. #TheBlackWatch #Perth #BWMuseum

This cigarette box in our WWI Gallery was gifted to Pvt. Henry Revey, 6th Black Watch, by the parents of an officer he rescued in 1918. Born in Glasgow in 1892, Revey worked as a postal officer after the war and earned the Imperial Services Medal in 1954. #WW1 #TheBlackWatch
