It might be worth telling your morning presenters or whoever writes for them that those with such severe cases of “picky eating” probably have underlying sensory processing issue. This is common for people with autism. You’re panicking people & trivialising serious experiences.

My book is a children’s book with a non-verbal character and gender neutral story telling so that children can put themselves in the story without any gender stereotypes and I’ve had nothing but attacks from people saying I’m indoctrinating their children. 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

As an autistic with ADHD and several SpLD, I found it an amazing watch. Sheen was patient, he was completely empowering of everyone in the room, he never once did anything to make anyone feel disrespected or rushed or anything negative. He was, as he always is, pure joy.

Doctor said my daughter can’t be autistic because she’s a girl. I tried to raise this with other health professionals &school staff &was repeatedly called a liar. She was incontinent &had a meltdown in front of him. No matter how hard I fight, they refuse to help us.

The assessor got really frustrated with me because I objected to performing the way she wanted me to and she asked if I had ODD. I said no, I don’t because that’s not a valid diagnosis. 🤷🏼♀️

I love how most of the responses to this are about the trans community when that’s not even what you said and there’s no indication that’s what the original post was about.
It could also be the fact that the queer community is underprivileged and disability is linked to that.

I feel this so hard! And then people are all “I don’t know why you thought we were friends” even though you know for a fact they’ve called you a friend before when they want something.
It hurts and I never seem to get better at protecting myself from it. ☹️

I get close to shaving all my hair off a few times a year. So far I’ve managed to resist. I’m too ugly to be bald. 🤣😂
But on a serious note, my hair is one of my biggest sources of sensory stress. Couple that with an extremely oversensitive head and managing it is a nightmare.

Of course. It’s done in black and white to encourage children to colour in the pictures. Too often colours are linked to emotions in a prescribed way so I didn’t want to influence the children too much.

There should and yet my books haven’t sold in ages because my own publisher has said he has no idea how to market it and I’ll have to pay hundreds to get out of my contract.
I’m autistic so I struggle with self promotion so it’s just sat there… It’s been an awful experience.

This. When your child gets the attention they want, it literally empowers strong attachment relationships, which is proven to improve childhood outcomes.
All this is going to do is teach the child that they’re only allowed attention when they conform.

One thing that strikes me is that Austen is probably the biggest influence on the romance genre in history and yet her trend of honourable, non-toxic romantic heroes hasn’t lasted. These days romance expectations are set on extremely toxic ideals. She’d have laughed at us all…
Colonel Brandon is, to my mind, one of the most admirable men in literature, and likewise, one of the most overlooked.
His selflessness, self-denial and dedication are almost beyond compare, making him one of Austen's most beloved romantic heroes.
