As an adoptive father, I was not allowed to adopt from several organizations/countries due to being treated for depression...ummm, I got the help I needed and my son says I am an “awesome” dad...our systems need to accept that people struggle with things that don’t define them.
I’m an ER doctor. I’ve seen a therapist and have been on antidepressants. Our system considers this a red flag, instead of a positive signal that I’m taking the best care of myself possible. This needs to change.

Lost my dad 16 years ago today…working through how his trauma (9/10 ACES) impacted our family…able to forgive him knowing his actions were a response to his own abuse/neglect. I’m here to break the spokes of that wheel/cycle…personally and professionally.

5 Years Ago Today my brother-in-law, sparring partner, and road dog went out for a bike ride and never came back...we lost him to a heart attack...I wish he could see how well his children are doing and I wish I could have just one more ride with him. Rest In Peace Tim ❤️
