Just FYI...all white interview/faculty panelists. This program never hired a Black faculty member. DEI officer not present at the interview. And, my rejection letter stated, “ thank you for your presentation on diversity”. My presentation was on regional anesthesia blocks. Tired.

My son surgery yesterday was successful (thank God). As I sat w/ him in the pre-op room waiting for his case to begin, a CRNA came into the room. He said, “do you remember me? I was a nurse anesthesia student 12 years ago and you were so kind to me when you were the Chief CRNA”

Only those who experienced homelessness know how horrible the system is for those w/ a child. For 3 months, our safe haven was the public library w/ use of a bathroom without losing our dignity. I took out books like Dr. Seuss for my son & found Maya Angelou for my soul

Yesterday, my daughter was injured during a rugby game in a scrum maneuver. All tests were negative, but in Trauma ICU w/ worrisome slurred speech as a result. She has traumatic post concussion syndrome. Told, it’s not permanent. Prayers welcome. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

My daughter, Paige called & stated she want to visit the African American Museum in DC and to a restaurant afterwards. Full sentence. Three months ago, she only said a few words. For over a year, she could not articulate at all due to a rugby game

It’s amazing how the applicant pool of nurses of color increase when a nurse anesthesia program eliminate the GREs AND hire faculty of color.
It’s actually happening, this trend will form in small clusters, then it will be quite evident.

My daughter, a critical care nurse is growing increasingly fatigued working on the unit. It’s at a point, she does not sign up for overtime. Instead, she recovers from days off from dealing with COVID related deaths and codes.

She will be followed up with a trauma post concussion outpatient clinic and therapy required for her full recovery. The trauma team was ultra professional and caring during this difficult time.
