Using visuals to chat about shapes! Creative thinking! Lots of vocab: opposite, alternate, interior angles, parallel lines, Right angle curved lines, large, small Can be used for any grade as Ss access the concepts & language they know & also access new content.

When a teacher does not try a new approach in their practice it may be because they are anxious, unsure, lacking resources, overwhelmed etc. Teaching can be an isolating experience. Take time to listen and understand before expecting change.

I remember seeing in 2020 and it gave me a laugh. So true, so real. I think this is such a powerful image...So much to discuss about what we see and don't see...And of course I am jealous that this kid is able to hang like that.😄 Thanks @MrsNewell22.

Using concept circles to describe graphs of a polynomial function. Great way to support the understanding of math vocabulary. You (or students) can also provide the descriptions and invite students to create the graph! What other descriptions might they add to this one?

Math anxiety is often caused by external experiences & maintained & fed by internal self-talk. Teacher and student-led think-alouds can have positive impact on math anxiety & improving student thinking skills.

This is wonderful website for math picture book ideas along with descriptions of the content/skills that can be taught with each book! Scroll down to the picture book icons. We need to be more deliberate on how we use picture books in our classrooms.
