Funny thing about Timber is that he’s as much of a maverick as Calafiori is. He just happens to be a flawless defender who takes his bible studies more seriously than the guy with model looks
Clubs are spooking themselves and making Arsenal’s abilities from corners near mythical. You have fans that look away when we take corners now. You are driving fear into your players and emboldening Gabriel and Co. Self fulfilling prophecy
The consensus is that he’s a CM playing fullback and Timber is a now CB turned fullback but do you not see how many overlapping characteristics these just these two players have? This is why it’s stupid to suggest that Arsenal play with 4 CBs
Chelsea lost 5-0 but I don’t think they got cooked half as bad as Newcastle. Clearly the boys wanted revenge for the reverse fixture. It was an utter shellacking
What is the toughest ground to play at in the premier league ?
🗣️Anthony Gordon - "For an away player, St James Park. No question about it but for me playing for Newcastle, i would say..Emirates "

Klopp says only a Messi level player should be exempt from tracking back and other defensive duties. I agree with the German. No one in the Arsenal squad, in most squads for that matter, is talented enough to be a luxury player in the XI
Arteta is a good manager because he's able to get players to buy-in to his methods.
But great managers always platform their best players.
Pep does it with Haaland/KDB, Klopp did it with Salah/Mane, Conte did it with Hazard/Costa, etc
"Chelsea are paying Arsenal £10 million to play Raheem Sterling."
ESPN's
@JamesOlley
gives the inside story on Raheem Sterling's loan move to Arsenal 🔴⚪️
The saddest thing about futbol is that we share this beautiful sport with Neanderthals like this. You can’t acknowledge Palmer and Halaand’s efficiency, Bruno and KBD’s vision and Salah/Saka’s efficiency because they wear a different badge. Scum of the watching public
Emery is an astute tactician but neither tactics nor coaching were his most glaring failure at Arsenal. It was a lack of charisma and singular leadership. He didn’t have the strength and magnetism in his character to convince ownership, fans and players to buy into his vision.
The bigger discussion we should be having is how the mighty Klopp allowed a rookie to relegate him to third fiddle in the title race for two consecutive seasons before he quit altogether. Since we are all being silly here
Yo arsenal fans, how come Unai Emery can coach this villa team to a win against Bayern Munich but the almighty Arteta couldn’t do the same and he had two chances to last season? I thought it “wasn’t close” between the two and arteta was better?
Football fans are myopic. Timber, Calafiori were introduced to them as CBs so that’s what they expect them to be throughout their careers. But a very clever recruitment team saw their press resistance, comfort btl and saw players that could be game changers in the middle
@IanDoyleSport
@MoArsenal86
“teams not taking them seriously, trouble at their rivals, officiating decisions, minimal pressure…they should be fourth” that’s the saltiest write up I’ve ever read from a “journalist”. It’s pathetic. We have kids offering better analysis here on Twitter for free
@MrTwoFooted
@SeanDOlfc
Oh man this is some desperate stuff. You mean all the goals you scored in your league and cup runs were only due to your genius and no opposition mistakes? Arsenal lead the league in almost every possible statistical metric so where’s all this luck stuff coming from?
@SamMcGuire90
@Tactical_Times
Or maybe it goes under the radar because they’re operating in an environment where one side has spent that amount in a calendar year?
@SamMcGuire90
@Tactical_Times
LOL well yeah it’s a cheap side all things considered. Saliba, Kiwior, Tierney, Gabriel almost all came at the whopping cost of one Harry Maguire
Enzo Maresca says he is still trying to get the Mauricio Pochettino out of his Chelsea players as he does not want his defenders playing such a risky high line.
#CFC
head coach told us in Charlotte: "We are not working on defensive lines so high. It's a habit from last year."
Football, like any field, now has its own technical jargon. Stop clutching your pearls whenever the game’s growing cohort of intellectuals speak in a language that those in their sphere understand. Let the geeks speak to each other. The layman have other voices
Minteh has rattled Udogie with his sheer repeated intensity. Why I called him Vinícius-esque in style in the summer. The dude never stops running, never stops going at you or at the space behind you.
So you’re buying players for their characteristics and not their advertised positions. I’d rather have Calafiori as my “attacking” FB than Robertson or Tierney
Because of you idiots that have zero perspective about team and squad composition. Once the first thing on your mind after a win against a top team is an absent player then you’re a cancer to the club you claim to support
Is now a good time to ask why Arsenal fans love to act like Odegaard is the club’s crown jewel and savior? I saw dozens of tweets from our own fans saying we’re bums without him all because of a UCL away draw against Atalanta 🤣🤣

They’re hoping against hope that we are not as good as we actually are now. They know what they watched during that game but they don’t want to believe the evidence of their eyes and comfort themselves with the scoreline. The copium can only last for so long
@allthatyouget
@DA_Adigun
Saliba had countless clangers last season but you don’t mind them. Why? Because your mind has been configured to think of Gabriel as the bozo defender so his every error confirms what you already think
@SamMcGuire90
@Tactical_Times
Arsenal will never be paupers again probably. They will always spend money. I don’t see why people should feel aggrieved when it’s benchmarked against what they have to compete with
All these victory laps seem premature. Chelsea have had a relatively kind start to the season. Very good side in transition I’ll give you that. Let’s revert back to all this a month after the current break shall we?
Must be shit being an arsenal fan, finally coming up and it’s not even been 2 seasons but Chelsea are there and ready to compete also
Thought Saka was going to be the face of the Premier league but Palmer comes from
nowhere to snatch his chain.
I’ll be pained too.
@SzoboSlyFC
@ftblnl
No it is not. Watch how teams played against us in the 1st half of the 22/23 season and how they adapted after getting ripped apart. That’s why casuals think we are boring now lol. Teams don’t rate you like that because they feel they always have a chance and they’re right
@juegodeposting
Perhaps. He seems a bit risk more averse but to me this is a guy that can charge the course of a game on either end. His confidence and swagger always shines through
@mxjafc
@olIieAFC
@_Ventfull_
The complain a year or so ago was that he didn’t shoot enough, now he shoots too much? The highest scoring midfielder in world football is by definition a game changer
@SzoboSlyFC
@ftblnl
Arsenal faced the lowest blocks in the entirety of Europe last season. That’s also a statistical fact. Liverpool is not even in the top 10. Let’s not even talk of Newcastle. Teams defend differently against us and yet, guess what? The goals still rain
@adzetics
@nonewthing
LOL he wasn’t playing that role. Partey was, but on RHS. He was the equivalent of what Ben White usually is on the right. And good Lord how about not judging a player that hasn’t even started 5 games for your club?
@SzoboSlyFC
@ftblnl
Brother I don’t care about what expected anything says lol if underlying metrics mattered we would be the champions. We scored more than you and w everyone else with our 4 CBs. That’s what’s under discussion here
United haven’t challenged for the title since Ferguson left. That’s a long time. You shouldn’t be so smug in mocking a guy who’s done it twice on the trot
@Assnastan
@afcprop
@PharmGatsby
The reality is that there are very few strikers that can do what Jesus does AND score a lot of goals. If Arsenal can’t get those very few upgrades, it is better to stick with our guy. Or we we will end up with a guy who scores 20 goals but also a team with 10 lesser points
Arteta brought a dream to Arsenal fans and he sold it to them. He sold it to the ownership and he sold it to the players. Four years later, every big club is taking about a “process”.. At a big 6 club you have to be both a coach and a politician
@meetpatel_0
@r1medi
Bellingham estimated £130m, Raicedo £150-160m…what’s the better deal for Arsenal there? Which one benefits the overall squad more?
@OyetundeBolawa
@nonewthing
Why are football fans obsessed with shiny new toys? A couple of good months at mid table Brighton and Arsenal should replace probably the league’s best LW with him 🤦♂️
@Jayy_reel
@nonewthing
But the difference between them is hardly 60m which is the entire point. Heck, even Saliba and Gabriel barely cost 30m. Value for money matters
Saka takes charge and dominates his zone regardless of skewed dynamics. Martinelli is an absolute killer but he needs conditions to be tailored for him to thrive and he’s a monster in big matches in which there’s space galore
Saka can adapt to any situation. No Odegaard, no White, no Timber, no Tomiyasu, but he's always inevitable. This is exactly where the criticisms for Martinelli are justified. No one hated him, was just speaking the truth. Fortunately he started cooking again. We really need him.
@IlyasNoreaga
@r1medi
You’re getting cooked because you’re using the benefit of hindsight to deduce this. Past players won the league and then went on to build careers and reputations on top of that. This is a very young team that hasn’t had a chance to do that individually
@AvyuktK
@_halfspaces
@EBL2017
No one told Conte to go and spend 60m on a backup striker when he had glaring holes at the back. Talent ID and knowing your squad needs are also important parts of being a manager
@belladonnaBSM
@ArsenalBuzzCom
A draw at Anfield, where all the big teams have failed to win, now has you chatting wild against the gaffer leading our first title charge in 15 years?
@ArsenalWoz
@TP57714340
He does not fit the bill at all 🤦♂️ he does not provide security in possession (we’d suffer in transition) and he needs a lot of space to run into. Where’s he going to get that against the extreme low blocks we face now?
Veron’s spell in England is being reincarnated in front of your eyes. Know your history. Physically limited midfielders, no matter how talented, are rarely lynchpins in England
Did you see how Southampton were determined against Arsenal throughout that match? Most teams don’t have that fire against City. They’re defeated in the tunnel, miss chances they would otherwise convert. Someone needs to prick the bubble and the floodgates will open
@sm63_63
@tt24sss
@r1medi
It’s a damn derby. The most important thing is to win. If we win this one we have won more at Spurs than they’ve won at our gaff. Do you know how insane that is?
@oluok1
@CalienteJ3
You’re being intentionally obtuse. The destination was underwhelming but the journey was magical and most of us would have laughed you off at the beginning if you had told us where we would end up
Transfer windows are now a separate football field on their own for some. Tottenham and Chelsea fans don’t hate their directors as much as some of our lot hates Edu because they “won” the last two windows. Apparently
@owenthfc__
@TheSpursExpress
That’s what everyone said when we bought Odegaard, Tomiyasu, Ramsdale, White etc two summers ago. The EPL obsession with big names instead of proper scouting and squad fit
@daveue25
@Afcsammmm
@meeylanoooo
Given where Arsenal are now, the football the team plays, the vibe within the squad and the excitement amongst fans, is it a surprise to you that people justify most, if not all, of Arteta’s decisions?
Players don't become 'finished' overnight. Environments change, and that's what happened to Jorginho at Chelsea. The Italian has previously excelled at the elite level in Tuchel, Mancini, and Sarri's system.
Arteta will provide the best structure Jorginho has ever seen.
THREAD!
At Villa he can survive on tactics alone. At a big 6 club things are different. It takes a couple of losses to tip fans against you sometimes. Look at how Ange has managed to coast through a period of atrocious results - character! The fans believe him and so do the players
I feel like evaluating players on pure talent should stop when they hit 21. That is what is being done with Foden. He’s 23 now and he’s still evaluated largely off potential. For reference, Bellingham has gone to Madrid and immediately become the main man
I don’t know when it became trendy but some of you are way too comfortable disrespecting Phil Foden these days
Alongside Bellingham, the future of England🏴
THIS is what makes him unique. This, together with his insane work rate and dueling/defensive qualities is what made Edu sanction such an expensive purchase. I don’t think there’s quite another like him out there you know
@JackBurgess_02
@TalkingHighbury
@David_Ornstein
Most of our young stars, who are childhood club fans, would have perhaps questioned if we can get into the CL before signing new contracts. Thats been achieved, we are 1st with 5 games to go and we pay massive wages. WTH would he leave?
Elite sport is brutal because once your weakness is out there everyone horns in on it until you’re demoted to a tier below. If this goes on for the next few months then it’s curtains for him
