They want him to drop deep, receive in the halfspace, turn, play a through ball, get on the end of his own through ball, score, and initiate the counter press when any of the steps in the process fail.
People that hate Mount always push this bad faith argument that his job in the team is to act as our sole creator
Since when has he been our creator? Does he even play as one? Or is he not part of the forwards?
Not only are they clueless, but don't know ball either!
I've seen people suggest he's the reason we play a higher line now, he's the reason we can build centrally, he's the reason we're good.
No mention of Trev/Badia or Madueke upping his defensive game on the right.
Rice is the type of DM that splits the CBs and carries the ball forwards when needed. J5 is the type to receive, turn and play in between the lines.
We can replicate J5s role w 2 CMs playing in front of Rice.
Chelsea and Tuchel are highly interested in Declan Rice and per the latest report an offer of £75M might be enough to start negotiations ,so i have looked for Rice stats last season compared with other DMs , Thread below👇
It's like how if you combined Mudryk and Madueke, you'd get a good winger.
If you combined Jackson and Duran, you'd get a good CF.
Fragmented quality is doing us no good.
Arteta is a good manager because he's able to get players to buy-in to his methods.
But great managers always platform their best players.
Pep does it with Haaland/KDB, Klopp did it with Salah/Mane, Conte did it with Hazard/Costa, etc
This idea that Mudryk needs time to develop is so so backwards. Especially coming from the same lot who had 0 patience for CHO in the past and 0 patience for Broja now.
Mount playing in the front 3 under Tuchel wasn't really an issue - the big qualm I had was with how he was being deployed.
Mount pre-ucl was dropping deep and connecting things for the likes of James/Chilwell/Havertz/Werner. After the UCL he was a poacher. 1/2
🚨 Chelsea have informed AC Milan of their interest to sign Maignan. The negotiations will not be easy as AC Milan does not intend to give up this player. Bought for €15 million, Maignan saw its price triple on the market. Nothing to scare Chelsea, willing to put the price on
“Technique is not being able to juggle a ball 1,000 times. Anyone can do that by practising. Then you can work in the circus. Technique is passing the ball with one touch, with the right speed, at the right foot of your team mate.” - Johan Cruyff
Mount used to graft for full 90s plus stoppage time creating chance after chance for the german bums only to miss his pen in the end and take all of the blame
Midfield was good
Palmer is playing

well positionally but keeps shitting the bed infront of goal.
Madueke mixed bag but has done more good than Sterling and Gallagher combined..
This narrative that we need a Jorginho type player to play alongside Enzo is ridiculous. We need our team to function better. We don't need niche players coming in and making us one dimensional.
Enzo isn't a Jorginho replacement, he's a Jorginho upgrade.
If Jorginho had legs and vision he wouldn't play at the base. He'd influence things all over the pitch the way Enzo does now.
You will never see this level of pitch coverage from Chelsea's midfielders. It's a real shame. Especially from a club that benefited from Kante for so long.
Poch doesn't make players run because he thinks football is primarily about running.
He uses it as a teaching method, and pain is the greatest teacher. No amount of technical training can teach you to be decisive.
Fofana in possession is the ideal CCB in Maresca system. Looks way more comfortable on the ball and has the right amount of pausa for it compared to Badiashile… can he defend to the required level though and stay fit?
Important issue to resolve.

Our attacks had such a beautiful flow last season..
That's what you get with consistency in the xl.
Link up between Palmer/Jackson/Gusto/Gallagher was so so nice
We've given Kai and Felix every chance possible to form some sort of chemistry and look where it got us. Couple days before Madrid and it'll be impossible for the manager to take them out because they're the only ones with momentum...
Mauricio Pochettino: 'In the last 10, 12, 15 years Chelsea is the greatest team in England'
Premier League titles in the last 15 years:
Man City: 7
Chelsea: 3
Man Utd: 3
Liverpool: 1
Leicester: 1
Doesn't even need an overlapping fullback. Just give him the ball and he'll cut in successfully 10 times out of 10. Prem tacticos would say he's really an 8 and not fit to hold width.
Ofcourse a Mount hater doesn't understand the concept of presence between the lines, they don't know that there's no J5 line breaking pass without Mount finding the pocket.
When critiquing this game - why would you focus on the tactics/manager over the players?
Cucurella can't play left back to a high level when we signed him for 62m? Kovacic cant win balls in midfield despite being a midfielder? Havertz can't control a football?
"Paez x Estavao will be world class on the right in 5 years!!!"
We can have Palmer x Olise right now. But of course, Clearlake are just going to kick the can down the road. Fanbase is eating it up.
This is just being put out as a thought exercise. I'd love to know your views. Squad is getting younger + wage bill is getting trimmed. What are the future ramifications? A younger, dynamic squad with high potential? Or inexperienced team lacking leaders + title credentials?
The Sarri tenure exposed the local/matchgoing fans to the wider fanbase as casually xenophobic and allergic to change, and opened up a lot of debates that had been avoided before
When Tuchel lost those finals everyone said our UCL winning team was shit
When Poch looses a final with kids everyone says it's his fault and our players are world class 😭
Fullbacks are meant to be sprinters. Running in straight lines is a fundamental aspect of the position.
Chilwell has great defensive instincts in the box, good in the air, good at blocking shots, good at tackling, great recovery pace, and jockeys on his toes
The school of thought that makes ppl think Mounts assist in the UCL final was bad because it had some pace on it is the exact thing I despise the most on FT
If Boehly is going to persist w Potter 2 things need to happen:
1. Boehly needs to ask Potter to identify who has a future at this club
2. Boehly needs to get rid of the players who don't have a future here ASAP.
He's been making passes like these for the last 3 seasons at least, anyone who says he can't pass doesn't know what they're talking about.
His only "flaw" is his back to goal game, but I guarantee you that's not the reason Arsenal have been poor this season
Time to develop in a Chelsea context looks MUCH different than what Mudryk needs. Hence the comparison to CHO/Broja
If our big money signings need to be babied more than our youth prospects.. we're doing things backwards.
His football education is horrible and he’s barely played for someone who’s 23 but has immense physical tools
Literally the very definition of needing time to develop
This Inter side is very similar to Chelsea’s 2021 winning side. Quality on paper isn’t anything special, but tactically very difficult to play against.
It's one of the reasons I loved Poch. We went from Tuchel who was sort of similar to Arteta is how he made the attackers do slave shifts to make us hard to beat.. to Poch who actually platformed Palmer/Jackson
Need ppl to really deep how important Mount was to our top 4 finishes in the last 4 years. "Better player" means nothing when you're injured 3 months out of every season.
