JUST IN! š„š„Naomi Umuhoza has joined the family of PhD holders in #Law after successfully defending her dissertation at @uppsalauni in #Sweden. Her research focused on the application of the principle of the āBest Interest of the Childā in custody determinations during divorce cases in Rwanda. Dr Umuhoza recommends that the best interests of the child in custody disputes should be evaluated through an independent procedure, where child custody is the sole focus and the childās welfare takes center stage. According to her, this approach would allow judges ample time to thoroughly assess and make informed decisions regarding custody. Umuhozaās doctoral studies were conducted under @URSwedenProgram, a bilateral research cooperation between #Rwanda and #Sweden, facilitated through the University of Rwanda and funded by @Sida . We celebrate her resilience and courage throughout her doctoral journey in Sweden!
