Thank you @SolagesNY and @SenatorBrouk! Looking for NYS to continue building toward #NYSUniversalChildCare in 2025 by ending the state’s exclusion of families who earn too little and creating a permanent child care workforce fund.
We applaud @SolagesNY and @SenatorBrouk on their piece in today's @timesunion calling for universal child care. We agree that child care for every family will make NY the best place to raise a child and look forward to making it a reality in 2025.

Feeling hopeful @GovKathyHochul will sign @jessicaramosqns & @sarahhartclark’s bill to end NY’s rule barring families who earn too little from child care assistance today! This would truly make NY more affordable for some of the state’s lowest income working families.
.@GovKathyHochul: you have the opportunity TODAY to make NY more affordable for low income families. Please sign @jessicaramosqns & @sarahhartclark’s bill to end NY’s deeply inequitable (& nonsensical) rule barring families from child care assistance because they EARN TOO LITTLE!

Thank you @NYFiscalPolicy for the opportunity to plot and plan with @JabariBrisport @lrmelodia and Emmy Liss about how to achieve #NYSUniversalChildCare. Lots of agreement that securing ongoing, publicly-funded wage supplements for the workforce is an essential next step!
@CenterNYC @lrmelodia @SchuylerCenter @DedeHill8 @emmy_liss @JabariBrisport "We have a broken system where on one end the parents can't afford to pay for it, and on the other end, the workers can't afford to live on the wages they're being given." - Senator @JabariBrisport

I couldn’t remain in policy work year after year if I didn’t believe change is possible - even in the opaque #NYSBudget process. Here’s hoping 2025 features a visionary budget that takes strides toward ending child poverty and making NY a great place to raise a family!
.@DedeHill8 's words from a year ago still ring true: Some populations are affected more deeply by current economic conditions, and state spending should reflect that. 2025 is the year for a new budget playbook @GovKathyHochul @AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie

@CapPressRoom @poozer87 thank you for asking about the long-standing practice of setting the same spending limits on all agencies. Turned my griping into an op Ed a few years ago…

Dusted off this 2023 op Ed I wrote to explain why I think @GovKathyHochul’s call for all NYS agencies to create flat budgets for FY 2026 bakes-in inequities in our NYS budgeting process.
