Radio guy from vinyl days to digital. Gen X owner of a towel. Reader, thinker & active viewer of the big picture. Wondering about 2050, it's closer than 1990.
I've been looking at the ABC news website over the last week & all the stories about the massive result for Labor have been negative. WTF? Labor won. Why are all the stories so pessimistic about the ability of the Labor party to lead Australia & all that live on this land? ffs
One of my housemates died today just at the front door.
I attempted CPR as another called for an ambo. Despite their efforts, my housemate couldn't be saved. Waiting for the next steps until his body is taken. Had to call his parents, not a call I ever want to make again. RIP JP.
@LesStonehouse
I'll never ever work with Alan Jones again. The ten years I did have taken a toll on my entire being that is still healing. Some Witches are helping restore my inner peace. Take care.
@billshortenmp
Every time I get a text message to say I have a new message in my MyGov account I panic. Coming up to 4 years unemployed after 30+ years in the workforce. Too sick to work, not sick enough for disability. Still have to attend multiple appointments, each takes up a day. No idea!
@AltMediaWatch
What's the go with the Maronite's beckoning the police? She wasn't being aggressive, she was not using abusive language. What a bunch of sad men.
Missed my bus after seeing my psych, grabbed a drink and threw $20 into a machine. The two grand I pulled out might help with household expenses. Don't be a mug and gamble more than you can afford. Don't live in hope of a win.
@cambo5157
Mate, I worked in advertising all my life. The last 10 years with some of the least popular people on Twitter. How he has managed to get to where he is, especially with his chequered career, needs to be looked at very closely to ensure Australia is never left so vulnerable again.
Had a little accident on my first day in my new job, first seizure in many years. Boy, did I give my new colleagues a shock, yesterday and again when I turned up at 8:30 this morning.
Riddle me this. I've spent some time walking the streets of Newcastle and see many empty shops with For Lease signs in the windows, yet looking online I can't see a single vacant shop with a reasonable rent. Are the owners just squatting on the land?
@MFWitches
I'm male, I'm pale, I hope I'm not too stale, I'm with you Witches. Society is poorer because of the things you fight against. Keep up the battle, it must be won.
Back in the early 90's my brother & I sat on the roof of our parents house holding hoses watching the bushfire across the valley. I haven't felt so helpless since then. Where are our leaders in this time of national crisis?
Hope not to see this bus driver on the road again, reluctant to lower the ramp for a person in a wheelchair, despite being asked multiple times, rude and hostile. Sydney Buses do better. Do much better.
@lesstenny
Pissed a few people off yesterday saying that maybe bagging the Labor party all the time isn't such a good idea and maybe acknowledge the gains that have been made. Sure, it's not the miracle change some expected, but it's better than the alternative.
@MrDenmore
Mr Denmore, in my 10 years working with 2GB, it was disappointing to see so many politicians cower in fear of incurring the wrath of Alan or being told to 'call Ray'. That these commentators appear to only reflect a small % of the population, should justify ignoring them. Stats.
@LesStonehouse
I'm trying to return to work after 3 years off. In the years leading up 2019 I'd been suffering from chronic respiratory problems, I was sick so much I ran out of all my leave. I was at home sick again when I was made redundant. Do I want to go back to work? Yes! The old way? No!
@BazzaCC
I remember the first time Mum didn't know who I was. When she didn't know Dad anymore, it was heartbreaking. Such a cruel way to spend your final years.
So that's the McQueen that should be fired. Not a good look for the police to be seen harassing members of the public. Even worse when the guy that put the police up to it resigns as the spotlight turned his way. Looks very dodgy. Things to hide? Perhaps they should
#FireMcQueen
Love starting the week with a message in my MyGov inbox. A chat next week about work. Fortunately, not on a day when I have a medical appointment. A chat about gaining a few hours work in between physio, psych and doc. Fuck this, I've been paying tax for over 40 years. Fuck MyGov
@Monocotyledon
@jeremy_graham
I was volunteering at 2SER as a teen when I got my first big scoop for a story on a young band from Marrickville, the bloke from Young Labor was called Albo. Seemed like a nice guy. Worked in radio for over 30 years since then. Thanks Albo!
@ljayes
@Dom_Perrottet
It was hard not seeing mum before she passed last year but we are in a fucking pandemic & it's not over yet. My sister couldn't come down for the funeral. People have been suffering but to express glee at a situation that is likely to increase death & suffering is just fucked up.
The responses to this tweet have been overwhelming. Thank you all. The experiences last night will take some time to get over. Speaking with the parents last night and discussing their rapid return from Tasmania to Sydney was not a conversation I ever thought I'd have. Take care.
@Vic_Rollison
Wish the conversation was about the safest way to open up rather than how fast can we get out of lockdown. Same result different connotations. One shows empathy the other may lead to despair.
@RuncibleH
Before Covid, I bumped into a couple of blokes living in a small suburban park, their tent was behind the bushes, but you couldn't miss the smell of their snags cooking. Why the actual fuck do we have homeless people in Australia in 2024?
@RonniSalt
@abcnews
@ABCmediawatch
The family made a statement, after that their privacy should have been respected. They have also lost someone and carry the burden of the events caused by that person. Enough said. Let people mourn. When the dead are buried, then it's time to talk and we have lots to talk about.
@FatherBob
Father Bob, reading the comments, the words of your Lord come to me, "Wherever 2 or 3 are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them".
On Twitter, on the radio, in people's thoughts - there are more than 2 or 3 that believe you are doing His work. Take care.
@Asher_Wolf
Possibly wouldn't have started rehab in Jan '20. Didn't realise how much harm I was doing to myself. The issues I was self medicating for still linger, (they have since childhood). But I have a clarity of mind I haven't had in years. Coming up to 2 years off the beers. Take care.
@MFWitches
I joined Twitter when it was my job to get Alan Jones' ads to air in Sydney and around the country, it was a fun time pulling ads off air until we had none. I started following you Witches and found friends. We deserve better from our media and their advertisers. On your brooms.
@lesstenny
It's been disappointing seeing people bagging Albo & Labor for not getting enough done as quickly as they'd like. The reverse wedgie is a first as far as I know. Albo hasn't been building chook sheds or cooking curries, he's been getting thing done. Dutton will look like Scrooge.
@GeoffField
I've been protesting and marching most of my life.
I've had a police officer throw me to the ground and pull a knife to my throat.
I've seen wrong things done by the people saying they are the 'good people'.
I've not given up fighting for what is right and good.
@xskinn
Scheduling the ads on 2GB, 5 years ago I was accused of alcohol abuse and was warned I could be breath tested in the office. I wasn't drinking at work, but the threat remained. Why should it be different for those planning for the present and future of Australia and its peoples.
@EVERALDATLARGE
Did a home reno in the 90s, sanded something I shouldn't have. My medical team have been watching a spot on my left lung for 20 years now. It's not a hysterical panic about Asbestos. It's a slow painful one. The spot gets a millimetre bigger every year. Every day is a good day.
@InternPeet
@mattjcan
Crazy isn't it. I'm trying to start a business & the govt won't let me drive without a licence and if that's not bad enough, I have to get a licence to sell my goods. Next I'll have to pay tax! What about my Freedumbs?
@DanPriceSeattle
Known a lot of people over the years, always so busy, staying back often. Busy, busy, busy - wasting time. Half an hour to make a coffee, 20 minutes here & there chatting about sports/TV, etc, 10 minutes to make a photocopy, planning lunch from 10:30. Always busy, doing nothing.
@xskinn
I've not wanted to comment too much, I still fail to understand why the police were required. Surely a well equipped care facility would be able to handle such situations. Oh yeah, another big thanks to Howard.
@ArchieObserving
I'd rather risk a few donkey votes than have a large part of the population not voting. We Aussies often joke we're apathetic, 'She'll be right mate', but most do take an interest rather than simply to avoid a fine. The voting turnouts in the USA are abysmal, that's not democracy
@WarwickMcKibbin
Every Australian over the age of 50 is posted a Bowel Cancer kit to do at home. Should have been simple to replicate this & send a box of RAT kits to to all Australian households (Based on Census data, additional supplies free on demand after). If only there had been time to plan
@CharlizeTheroff
@VoasWa
If as I keep seeing, Indue receives ~$11K per person, would it not be better to lift everyone on payments by that amount by giving them the $$. Twiggy has enough money to travel the world during a pandemic, he doesn't really need more $$ from the people of Australia.
Civic duty done. Stayed over at friends last night, far from Bennelong. Absentee vote but still one of my favourite plants in a local churchyard. No sausage sizzle, settled for a piccolo by the beach (No pics, just a content feeling). Have a great day.

@StuddertNatalie
Worked with Hadley at 2GB for 10 years and he is a bully. Copped abuse once, management didn't want to know. His disgraced former police officer son is no better from reports. Ray is not a man of the people, quite the opposite. An abuser keeping abusers in jobs.
@Coffeedaveoz
@lesstenny
With family in Canada, Europe and the UK, I read the international news daily. The same cost of living issues we are facing are being faced around the globe. We're being gamed. Stop blaming politicians and start blaming stockbrokers.
@CaraMia200
He shouldn't have been living there. The Lodge is the official residence of the PM, deciding to live in Kirribilli was one of the biggest 'up yours' from Scott. In fact he should never had made it to PM, we should find out who put him there!
@BazzaCC
There used to be facilities for those with the worst disorders, they were closed and the people left to roam the streets. Society has become harder, whilst it has appeared to improve. Too many miss out on help, whilst too many make $$'s.
@RonniSalt
The parliament in the Netherlands resigned over a RoboDebt type scandal, ours should have too, a disgrace they didn't. Hopefully, the people don't forget that come next election.
Yesterday a friend put a call out for a fridge on FB, I asked if anyone here could help & had many offers. The other week I had stern words* with Centrelink over $500. I confirmed I wasn't in danger of harming myself. *Duty of care, yeah. I was OK seeing this, others might not be
@CharlizeTheroff
Divorced twenty years this long weekend, a long couple of decades. Did everything I could to ensure my children (hers & mine) were looked after. Paid what I had to and then some more. Kept a spare room with an empty bed. Never bitched. Never asked awkward questions. Kids first.
@YouAreLobbyLud
I think the people who say "Let it rip" know exactly what they mean. They don't care. $$ are more important than some sick child, elderly person, or anyone with disabilities. Those people are a drain on the system, let it rip to free up space for the chosen ones.
@xskinn
Morning all. Had to pull the passionfruit vine down to replace the tarp. The chooks are checking for grubs. Sometimes you get help from the strangest places. Have a good day.
@AdyLady9969
I'm 55 and less than 6 foot tall, will happily assist elderly Yes Voters into church. Haven't been in one for a while, but don't fuck with the church community. There are some good people. Time for more Yes Voting Christians. I'll bring my knuckle dusters.
@DuffmanGay
It's a different world. I'm out in the sticks but a mate's right in the middle of it in the SW. But the news has been skewed to only show the worst of the West (Not the people working hard & getting on), with little mention of the FU attitude in the East.
@BazzaCC
Yes. Married my teenage sweetheart. She'd had a bub to another bloke, but I didn't mind. We were together for 10 years, had another bub and later, she wanted another, I didn't, couldn't (had the snip), we split up, but I never stopped loving her. Fucking cancer took her last year
@danilic
Gina has brought an awareness of Vincent Namatjira's art, I'm glad to have seen it and would happily chip in to see his work displayed in Time's Square. Maybe we should cherish Gina as an Australian icon, (dunno), we should definitely celebrate the work of a great artist.
Oh what fun! Centrelink haven't processed (or have rejected without advising) my SU415 medical certificate for exemption from Mutual Obligations and I have two appointments with APM tomorrow, one with APM Employment, the other APM Disability, both at the same time. ffs.
@xskinn
@PeterDutton_MP
I'm so disgusted by the ongoing disgraceful behaviour of our politicians, time for a breathalyser at the doors of chamber. I don't want a drunk making decisions for me.
@xskinn
I'm a grumpy old man before my time but believe in kindness. Simple things like asking 'How are you?' and waiting for an answer. Thanking the cashier or bus driver. Simple things can change someone's day, hopefully for the better. Be kind, it's free, it's contagious in a good way
Tradies block CBD streets in smoko protests at COVID rules | The New Daily
How cruel making tradies sit outside in the fresh air, next they'll make them wear safety hats.
@LesStonehouse
Work Xmas party ~1990. My plus one was a Portuguese tourist I'd just recently met. Couldn't speak much English but loved her Punk music. (I worked at an easy listening station). Merry Xmas one & all.
@xskinn
Funny how these sort of things keep happening with little or no response from authorities, an illegal rave in the bush would be shut down immediately.
@gemcarey
@DavidJoffe64
My doctor greeted me the other week maskless and then continued to sneeze throughout the consultation. With COPD, the last thing I need is to get covid. Not sure why some doctors fail to grasp the importance. Needless to say, but I've been coughing my guts up since. Thanks Doc!
Moved out of town to be closer to nature - the big old gums, possums, birds of all kinds and then people come along & build something like this. No trees, no shelter for wildlife or food sources - all gone for a sterile glass & concrete box. This is why we can't have nice things.
@MFWitches
I went
#MeToo
against Hadley and lost.
Haven't worked in Sydney since. Those with power and dollars will win every time.
Unless we keep fighting!
And don't forget Costello & NINE and other networks like the Super Radio Network, lifelong LNP supporters.
@JaneCaro
Thanks Jane. I look forward to seeing real action. If it takes bluntness so be it, many have shown their true blunt* personalities in the past 12 months & there are many issues facing Australia. We need people to come together, we need men to support women.
(*Or another word)
@criprights
Nine years of the LNP & cronies have led to this. We can build mega apartment blocks for the rich, we can build stadiums & we keep building by-passes. Why has it been so hard for those in authority to ensure that we build appropriate housing for those in need to live in & die in?
@RuncibleH
Privatisation & deregulation have created some of the biggest issues we face today. Instead of more options we just see the bigger players swallow up the smaller.
@PaulMeekPerth
When I went into rehab in January 2020 they took a photo of me. Normally at completion this would be displayed to all participants as the recovering person gave a speech & went on their path. Covid changed that & I haven't seen the pic. Not sure I want to. Feeling good now.
As a Greek I am compelled by my own history to vote Yes. So are many other migrants and children of migrants.
My ancestral land is no longer my home, it’s no longer the home of my relatives. It’s a reality that the No campaign completely overlooked.
Was having trouble getting the BBQ going last night, went around the back of it with a match. It's an unusual feeling having no eyelashes. Won't need to trim the eyebrows for a while too. Maybe it will inspire new growth on the top of my head. Glad I didn't end up a red head.
@TankVaxxed
Wonderful, normally people ain't no good. In a rush yesterday and tried to push in front, customer in front offered to pay for my one purchase (which I had change in my hand for), a second teller opened. Thanked the person for their kind offer. It ain't hard to be nice.
@xskinn
Before Xmas I was short of cash, a stranger sent me some $$, I forwarded them to another in need when I was flush again. Those sort of actions keeps the world going round. They keep people going. Take care. Be kind. Do good if you can.
@ToniAussiewoman
@RuncibleH
I hear you. To sick to work, not sick enough for DSP. Pulled $$ from Super to stay alive. Doc says I might live for years, not sure how I'll afford it.
But how good is it to be a politician or CEO on a couple of hundred grand a year. Yeah, they know the people.
@TraceySpicer
When news of this sad episode in our political history broke, I was studying marketing. I couldn't do it and dropped out, too many mentions of Scotty from marketing. Memories of abuse in my teens came flooding back. Offers of assistance, then betrayal. This is a happy day for me.
A friend touched up a selfie but I'm a hell of a lot healthier now than 3 years ago. Big shout out to all the nurses & hospital staff, working today or throughout the season. I think I may have been an impatient patient, thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for everything.
