As a child, I was bullied daily, verbally and physically, for my love of singing. I remember one comment as I was repeatedly kicked being ‘you’re just one of those ***** that run around in pink’. Because of that, I’ve never worn a pink shirt. Not until today. Wish me luck!

Why should we, as a profession, limit children’s reading in any way? If a child wants to read anything, and that’s their hook in, go for it. We can then find other similar things as well. We should be encouraging reading, not telling them not to read certain things.
