Won't someone think of the companies that make those machines that will flatten your penny into a commemorative medallion at tourist traps?
Donald Trump has ordered his Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, to halt the minting of new pennies, citing "wasteful" Govt. spending as inflation sends production costs soaring. Why not include nickels, as the copper and nickel in those coins are already worth more than a nickel?

@unusual_whales Kids can’t read or do basic math, but we have to make sure there’s a trans flag in every classroom. Education has only gotten worse since the DoE’s inception since 1979. Good riddance.
