This take should not even be controversial also I submit that we adopt the Spanish/Latin American style where the children answer the surname of the father and mother.
What I want and hope to see more of is women keeping their surnames and having their children bear them too, not just the fathers own. That should be the norm, heck if anyone “deserves” to have their name passed along it’s the mothers after all the labour of bearing the children
