Have yet to comb through the manuscripts but I suspect I will be changing how I counsel patients. Agree with @JordanBloomMD: reop vs anticoagulants is one thing, dying sooner is a whole different matter

Two more studies published in the last few weeks demonstrating the survival disadvantage of tissue aortic valve replacement when compared to mechanical valves. This #Bio4LIFE approach is a fairy tale. @AortaEd

@Prasannasimha @rbarbosa91 Thatโ€™s exactly why I spoke up. Not even all cardiac centers have this Gundry-type retrograde cardioplegia catheter. So the principal remains the same as for access for massive resuscitation: widest, shortest tube you can put into a venous structure

@RakanINazer Agree ๐Ÿ’ฏ. For non-repairable aortic valve disease in the under 50, I try to steer them away from tissue prosthetic towards either mechanical or Ross depending on the case
