#Osteosarcoma : an aggressive bone tumor that was nearly always fatal in the 1970s. We can utilize the vascular nature of these tumors to our advantage by guiding a tiny catheter into the artery and delivering the chemo into the tumor w better limb salvage. #iRad #oncology #PSL

One of the main problems the specialty of Interventional Radiology faces is that it’s a subspecialty characterized by the tools (tech and devices) it uses rather than an organ system or a small cohort of disease processes. This is fundamentally different than any other specialty.

63 y/o with 50 ft claudication and left common iliac artery CTO. Treated with balloon expandable stent-graft. Patient now able to walk without pain. Grateful patient. Brought in their own pre/post op ABI/TBIs to show me. In fact, they were able to sprint across the street

#Angiomyolipoma - a benign kidney tumor that is usually sporadic but is also seen in tuberous sclerosis. Can be treated with everolimus. If large enough, they need an #iRad embolization- a safe outpatient procedure that can be done through a pinhole in the wrist. #RadialFirst
