Being a fan of USA cricket is heart wrenching at the worst of times. It’s a roller coaster in the best of times. Trying to write and make content about American cricket is often pure humiliation. Thanks to these men and everyone who supports them, we have unbridled joy today.
We have to be realistic, and we have to appreciate the progress that can be made: No, this huge win probably won’t move USA Cricket into the American mainstream. It’s not broadcast anywhere that new eyes can see it. But existing expat cricket fans here now should embrace USA.
As a USA Cricket fan, nothing makes me feel like we’ve arrived more than joining the hundreds of thousands of full member fans in complaining about this New York wicket.
I’ve just gotten goosebumps realizing that the several knowledgeable and passionate USA fans that I know on this website are contributing right now to the introduction of this team and this community to the cricketing world. This performance means so much.
What a shame. West Indies fail to qualify for the World cup. Just shows talent alone isn’t enough, need focus and good man management, free from politics. The only solace is there isn’t further low to sink from here.
Congratulations to these fantastic USA cricketers. Thank you and congrats to their fans and their family and those who support them and who made this possible. We need to remember that they did this in spite of the shambles that is the USA board, not because of them.
As a fan of cricket first, I find it very disheartening that the predominant mainstream talking point about the Qualifier has been “what a shame it is that Windies are out,” instead of celebrating the emergence of others. This has been doubled down by the
@icc
’s own media.
MLC’s inaugural season was appropriately celebrated as a success. But perhaps nothing has underscored the real effect of the
@MLCricket
project more than the way this Grand Prairie venue has looked and performed in these 3 World Cup games…except maybe how well USA has played.
I’m stoked for what this World Cup could do for the prospects of MLC venues. The crowds at Grand Prairie and today and tomorrow in New York… this could really be the proof of concept MLC franchises need to seal some deals. With the promise of the ‘28 Olympics too!
Ian Chappell once again shows the world his entire massive and hideous ass. USA beat Pakistan on what's proved to be the best batting wicket in the tournament... and it's in Texas.
"While T20 pitches should never totally favour batters, there's no excuse for surfaces that are considered dangerous"
Ian Chappell writes ✍

I was truly looking forward to watching USA and Ireland here in Lauderhill. USA advance, and clinch a spot in the next World Cup. This should also help build a case for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics hosts to be included.
To those full member creators, writers, podcasters, media people trying to claim this as a humiliation for Pakistan or a fluke for USA. You have no idea what you’re talking about. You are second rate grifters. You are mechanical. Stay in your lane. You are so out of your depth.
Difficult batting wickets give associates a chance. Not just because it nerfs FM batting, but because AMs are used to adapting to more difficult wickets in short formats and playing accordingly.
The most compelling games in this World Cup have been associate v associate. And they’ve held up decently so far against FMs. I really wish Church Street had been able to host these AM games. The crowd would have given them what they deserve, though not enough capacity for Nepal

@mbab007
happened to be across the street and took this pic.
If you’ve followed USA Cricket’s NGB, then you’re aware of its many deep, terrible problems. I have a plan to fix this forever. Fill the board with Brian Walters clones.
WITHOUT A DOUBT, this is the biggest moment in USA Cricket that I've ever experienced.

Terry should get the Cadillac of wheel chairs. We all know medical products are very high priced, so it doesn’t shock me one bit that a chair that just meets his minimal needs costs $40k. Still, I hope it’s the damn Cadillac of wheelchairs anyhow.
This is what happens when you hide from Interpol in the USA for three weeks. They’re not going to approve your visa requests now. Should have hidden out elsewhere.
Sandeep Lamichhane's US Visa application has been rejected once again by the US Embassy in Nepal.
- He will now not participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup. 🏆
USA Cricket made no effort at all to congratulate Washington Freedom on their MLC Championship run, even though some of their biggest stars play on the team. But clearly they were paying attention, since they ripped off their uniforms.

it’s important to pay for good work when you find it. The guy who does my yard does it for $80, and he’s finished in an hour, but he’s 2x as good and 2x as fast as another business I hired when he left town which charged me $110. So now I pay the good guy $120 because he’s better
Very poor from Ponting. Not just wildly incorrect about the facts, but this is a terrible approach to tapping into the baseball community. Fandom isn’t a zero sum game. It’s not either/or.

Really remarkable accomplishment. Pujara is the first visiting batsman to pull off two 200+ ball fourth innings in the same series in Australia since Herbert Sutcliffe in 1925.

Nepal cricket fans are vast, passionate, loyal, and loud. I’m friends with some. However, it’s an extremely bad taste that some Nepal fans who have relocated to live and work in the USA showed up in Texas to shout “refugee” at our cricketers, and that it continues on socials.

This is exactly what I was thinking. The first time I ate an artichoke I chewed it for like 10 minutes and thought “this is terrible. Rich people eat some gross shit.”
If England and Australia hadn’t undermined their own domestic product by scheduling International cricket during their T20 leagues, then we might not be in this position with the BCCI and IPL dominating every big cricket decision.
Plenty have expressed this sentiment and it’s important: Leaving
@CricketBadge
out of the World Cup broadcast in a WC that features Nepal and Ireland is a sin. What message does this send? If Lenny can’t make it in a tailor-made moment, who can? Listen to him promote the AMs👇
We might get 300 downloads for this episode. Some might scoff at that. But that’s 300 people who give a shit about American cricket. 300 people who want us to stay on target. That emboldens us by 300x.
This is the best I’ve seen from

Similarly, Jasprit Bumrah is so dominant defensively that has a reasonable argument for being considered the most valuable cricketer in all of T20 cricket. Not just in this World Cup, but across the board. The more batter friendly the game is, the more valuable he becomes.
Happy Birthday to my friend AP! Words can’t express how special this guy is. If only cricket in the USA can keep up with Aaman’s ascent, we’ll have a lot to look forward to.
Tough match to end on, but so proud of Team USA! Will talk through my thoughts tonight with
@CricFanUSA
, but I'm going to take this time to geek about turning 21 today, seeing this team live and sharing a special moment with a few of the guys before the anthems.
#T20WorldCup
To further this point: no doubt the biggest obstacle to overcome when explaining cricket to new people is the unique language of cricket. “Wicket” means multiple things. “Over” is used as a noun, etc.
Final that does not overlap a complete weekend.A scenario where only 1 stand is open. That is a side view stand as well where Level 2 will have fans soaking in the sun. There is no scorecard for fans.
You will never guess that this is biggest 1st class match of the year in India
This is essentially a quarter final in a World Cup and 1/3 of the stadium is full. Will the
@ICC
ever fucking understand how bad this looks? It’s not like Australia don’t have 20k seat venues. This is fucking important.
It’s thanks to the success of the boys on the field of play that most people in the USA know that cricket is happening. I’m hoping that curiosity grows, and with it more opportunity for those who play and support the game.

Breaks my heart to hear that little kid crying about this. What a bully. There ain’t much worth calling the police for when it’s a 9 year old kid involved. What happened to talking to the parents (if this shit even happened). The crime here is the lady’s total cowardice.

I discovered cricket thanks to Wahab Riaz and Shane Watson in 2015. Now it’s my all consuming hobby. Yesterday was so special. Pakistan is a very special part of my cricket life. Next time you’re in NC, check out our amazing ground. We will even host MLC again this year.
