High school recruits. Do not be "above" any school that comes to visit with you. Treat people right. That coach may end at a school you are interested in next month or have a friend on that staff. Coaches talk and rude behavior always catches up with you.

Teach your offense to appreciate 4 yards. Don’t fall in love with easy yards and easy points against inferior opponents. It is an illusion that creates a false sense of confidence that will bite you in a big game.

I spent 26 years as a high school head coach. Never had a player“move in” only once had a true feeder program.Watched other programs take off by needing to list their players by position ht wt and hometown. Here’s to the guys who just coach their guys! You are the cornerstone!

One of the errors 1st time head coaches make is thinking everybody is rooting for them. Trust me, the day you are hired someone is already working against you. Had to learn this the hard way. You will not win enough games to win them over. They will always find something wrong.

When firing a coach especially in high school the plan should be to hire someone better. Not change for the sake of change. At what point in time are administrators held accountable for the lack of progress in their athletic programs? (Rhetorical question) Coaches know the answer.

Offensive line play continues to decline. 1. Fewer coaches wanting to truly excel in this area 2. Play callers put them in difficult spots 3. Teams lack of commitment to being physical 4. Forgetting the value of 4 yards 5. QB country >OL country

Every High school program I took over had a rivalry game where we were the little brother.(less than 33% wins against them.) The 1st step we took was to quit obsessing over them. Worry about us. They were living rent free in everyones heads. We finished 13-12 in those games.

Head coaches. Consider your assistant coaches families. Manage their time wisely. Let them or make them go home to their families. Being a husband and father far outweighs being a coach.

We learned from some pretty good coaches 40 years ago to install your offense from condensed formations and then spread them out. The theory is you learn how to appreciate toughness and the value of 4 yards then expand. Short yards and goalline for some seems like an afterthought

Quality schools and systems let head football coaches know in November/December if they are not bringing them back. Give them some time to look for another job and then allow them to resign. Doing it at the end of the school year is just cowardly.

@Coach_Monroe3 Major part of Head Coaches job is to train and develop asst. coaches. Part of that is understanding their job is to do everything in their power to help the Head Coach succeed. This has to be taught to most young guys. I know I had no clue when I was in my 20's. ✝️👩‍👩‍👧‍👦🏈

Top 2 reasons kids play sports- 1. To be part of a team and 2. To have fun. The joy of sports begins with these. Perfectionism kills this joy and drains the energy from your teams. Lighten up a little and enjoy the process! They will also play harder and perform better for you!

Yesterday Joseph of Nazareth became one of my #Heroes . In a world where everyone has an opinion the step-father of Jesus of Nazareth is not quoted once in the Bible. Not one word. He just consistently did his job and allowed the results to speak for themselves. ✝️

3 months ago Susan and I dreamed of owning our own franchise. We had no money, no place to practice, no equipment, no coaches and no players. Today we finished our 1st spring together and have added a dance team for good measure. God is Faithful! Go Fairhope Storm!!✝️👩‍👩‍👧‍👦🏈
