'Sport' hunting is a sickness, a perversion and a danger and should be recognised as such. People who get their 'amusement' from hunting and killing defenceless animals can only be suffering from a mental disorder....

Elephants are tactile and this is especially important for infant calves. In the wild, these little ones would be coddled by family members, with trunks hugs and caresses. At our Nursery, the Keepers replicate this closeness, providing comfort and reassurance through touch.

So that the orphans can grow, heal & learn new skills, we need to give them the energy they need. That’s where 3-hourly milk feeds come in for the orphans. Rokka sporting a look of intense concentration, ensuring every drop of the freshly mixed ‘fuel’ disappears into her tummy!

Energised by her morning rituals, Raha is ready to head into the forest for a day of discovery. When she’s grown, she’ll return back to the wild. Read why she’s in our care:
Icholta was orphaned in 1999. She became trapped in mud & her herd was forced to leave her. Now 23 years old, she's long graduated from our care & gone on to become a two-time mum. Inca, seen here, was born in 2016, & Izzy arrived in 2022. Every rescue brings hope for the species
Yesterday’s bedtime PSA featured cute Chamboi. Now it’s Raha’s turn in front of the camera (lest she think you’d forgotten her!) A nibble on her Keepers trouser leg is her polite way of saying she wants some milk!
Chamboi has got our hearts racing! From fragile beginnings - he was rescued at a day old! - he has blossomed into a real character, huffing, puffing & charging around with exuberance. Learn all about this little pocket-rocket at:
Our extended elephant family has a tiny, new addition! Yesterday, we were introduced to our first wild-born baby of 2024. We’ll reveal the full story soon — but can you guess the identity of the proud ex-orphan mum?

We thought we’d introduce Natibu later today… but apparently, he couldn’t wait to make his debut! Considering his claustrophobia-inducing rescue story, which you can read here: , it's a real triumph to see this little chap today, bright-eyed & content.
Elephants have incredible survival instincts. At this age, orphaned calves are much too young to properly eat plants & are still fully dependent on milk. But time & again, even among those abandoned at birth, we see them foraging & fostering a love to eat their greens.

🇮🇳 ⛓ Here we are in Kerala • India at the famous Kodanand Elephant Training Camp. This video shows how elephants are tortured so that they learn to obey, with chains, bullhooks & beatings. You can hardly look. The poor abused elephant child is not that old yet.

Quick – what flies across the ground at a speed of knots & isn’t superman? The answer: Chamboi! Legs stretched, he’s off for round two. Playful exercise helps him grow strong, release energy & discover his natural environment. All vital for his eventual reintegration in the wild.
Doldol: The smallest elephant to come into our care; a title previously held by Ndotto. Her story began on a cold night in northern Kenya, but with the help of Mishak, blankets, & you, she can feel the warmth of a family. Adopt Doldol this

Exactly 3 months ago, a baby elephant was born within the leafy paradise of the Kibwezi Forest. Every new elephant birth is cause for celebration, but this was an extraordinary event. Not only was this calf the first wild progeny born from our Umani orphan herd...👓⬇️
Move over… there’s a new Queen of Umani! But as Mwana discovers, there is no elegant way to depart her ‘throne’, AKA the dust mound. She is one of 55 calves born to orphaned
