EXCITING NEWS: African Painted Dogs (commonly Wild Dogs) which went extinct in Uganda in the 1980’s were sighted this morning around the Narus River in Kidepo Valley National Park. One of our resident rangers captured these images hastily before the pair skipped out of view.

Happy new week! Here is the first image by our field team of Uganda’s newest addition in the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Adult female Mugwere of Mukiza gorilla family gave birth to a healthy baby yesterday. The group now has 28 individuals.

We are excited to announce that adult female Kibande of the Rushegura mountain gorilla group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has given birth, bringing the number of gorillas in this family to 17. The baby, mother & father are all in perfect health.

Congratulations to our very own Julius Obwona who received the Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award yesterday from the Duke of Cambridge for his dedication as a ranger protecting the wildlife at Murchison Falls National Park.
This elephant was spotted in

with a snare that was about to cut off it's foot. Our team quickly swung into action with appropriate interventions. The elephant was treated and released. Quick recovery Jumbo.
The rescue of kidnapped tourist Kimberly Sue and driver guide Jean Paul is complete. Both captives back in safe hands. We thank our security agencies who led the mission. This was a one off and isolated incident. Our national parks have been and remain safe to visit.
Gorilla Baby Boom in Bwindi -Fifth new baby in just 6 weeks! The Rushegura gorilla family welcomes another bouncing cute baby gorilla from Adult female Ruterana increasing the family membership to 18. The birth takes the tally of new births in the forest to 5 in just six weeks!
We have arrested four people over the death of Rafiki, the Silverback of Nkuringo Gorilla group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. They will be prosecuted in the courts of law. See statement below;

Our team in the Murchison Falls Conservation Area acting on a report from a stakeholder, traced this giraffe that had got entangled in a poacher’s wire snare.
The giraffe has been treated and we will continue to monitor it over the coming days.

Yesterday this beautiful leopard was found with a snare in Karachi (between Lira & Soroti) in Mt. Elgon Conservation Area. Thanks to our excellent team of vets, the animal was rescued, treated and has been translocated to its new home in the Murchison Falls Conservation Area.
