I think equating CO to N2 inhalation is another false-equivalency for a multitude of reasons, including safety to athletes and staff/coaches administrating it, ease of access, reversibility, etc.
@Nyborger_Nybo @DrMJoyner @iljukov @honestsport_ew @sweatscience @wattsnow @VictorConte @RAnneShirley @ShalayaKipp @TStellingwerff @ChrisMinson The big difference is the affinity of CO to hemiglobin. CO is way more dangerous and difficult to treat in an emergency situation.

Yes…heat training is an additional stress and needs to be recognized as such! But 5 consecutive days of heat training in a hot and humid environment is a terrible heat acclimation protocol that ignores the needs of the athlete and balance of training stresses!
Using heat acclimation training with athletes? There may be unintended consequences on sleep & general activity... 5 consecutive days of heat training: ⬇️ sleep efficiency ⬆️ time awake during the night ⬆️ daily sedentary time ⬇️ light physical activity time

Super fun to have NYT Best selling author @sweatscience Alex Hutchinson visit my lab a few weeks ago. A very fun read outlining what we do to help athletes perform in the heat (and not in the heat!):
