I don't think the American mind is capable of understanding that electronics are not meant to be sold at the prices they're sold at in the US; people really do not understand that the price of especially computers dropped so quickly in the 90s & 00s because the bulk of small
What this all comes down to is adults making difficult choices.
For the US to have a secure electronics supply chain will require everyone to pay more for electronics.
