I remember, the day I was hired to write for Reservation Dogs, I was at my construction job.
I was on top of the world. My future just presented itself to me.
At the end of the day, I came home to an eviction notice posted on my door.

This was when I learned that it truly is the darkest before the dawn.
So when I feel down about how things are looking, I remember these moments.
I say to myself “if this is the bottom, dope… Ain’t no way to go but up from here 🤷🏾♂️.”

Knowing all my financial stresses were about to go away, I turned my tv on and learned that my Hulu account had just been suspended.
I JUST signed a deal with Hulu. And I can’t even afford the service… ugh.

I love that Chris is vocal about his criticisms.
Chris is not only the language consultant, he is also a direct descendant of the lives depicted in this film. He is directly impacted by the Osage murders.
I remember, when I was a kid, feeling like I wasn’t native enough, or I wasn’t black enough.
Knowing damn well I come from an extremely rich culture from both sides of my lineage.
Yet people still had a way of making me feel less than.
Don’t be like those people.
Bruh… I just looked around my apartment and immediately felt a kick of gratitude.
I used to be HOMELESS a few years ago.
Now I have a Keurig… and a really cool toaster.
Thanks creator.
@ava
is a perfect example of why it’s important to passionately use your art form to create change in the world.
Many of her films are now becoming free and accessible to educate the world on systemic racism.
That is excellence.
@Seiurus
Wow, what a nice thing to say. Thank you for that.
I feel like we as writers (on our show, at least) can appreciate the love from our community so much more than any award.
Although an Emmy would be very nice, it’s enough knowing the impact that has been made in NDN country.
Mixed people do exist and can still be a full representation of their culture in whatever environment they live in, no matter the “quantum”.
None of y’all [expletives] have the power to decide who is or who isn’t what their bloodlines say they are.
@MeekMill
I mean, what you do is your business. But I been beat, gassed, maced, hosed down by police. Don’t mean I’m gonna support a racist organization that doesn’t support black justice..
And if you haven’t been beaten by police, that don’t mean you don’t have a voice.

Things that white ppl think aliens built:
• Pyramids
• Stonehenge
• Easter Island
• Sacsayhuamán
• Teotihuacán
Ppl that actually built it:
• Brown people
Terms white ppl use to say Brown ppl:
• Aliens
Ppl that “steal” white ppl’s building jobs:
• Aliens
I get it now..
When they say “BIPOC” but only mean Black, People of Color, because they still don’t care about Indigenous people…
They just wanna be politically correct.

This is a song about sacrificing your authentic art for radio play on a song that will reel in the listeners. Which worked successfully. Has nothing to do with none of that illuminati nonsense.
Reservation Dogs on Disney is magnificent - and the finale is a work of art. Huge respect to

In response to my paddle being hung up as art work, my grandpa said “better put it to use, grandson. It’s meant to be used.”
In my head, I heard “this piece of your culture is a lifestyle, not just art”..
I think about this often.
Ahousaht closed to tourists.
Makah closed to tourists.
Pine Ridge closed to those without tribal ID.
This should be a norm. Add a toll. Utilize your self governance.
Be Sovereign Nations!
We are our own NATIONS.
Over the course of my life, I had been gifted many cultural items; drums, regalia, paddles, etc.
Many of which are treated as artwork in my home.
One day, my grandpa (who had gifted me a paddle) asked me, “have you put it in the water yet?”
I respond “Not yet. It’s on my wall”
Using the terms African American, Asian American, etc. is basically saying “you’re not from here, but you’re here now so you must learn our ways”...
Even the term Native American.
“You’re from here, but this is America now. Learn our ways”
But not the Caucasian... 😒
Dr: “on a scale from 1-10, how would you rate the pain”
Me: “ooohahahaheyha ooh yeah I’d rate it that sacred number 4. This pain gives me that real sacred healing feeling. Creator has blessed me with that sacred pain, doctor”

It’s actually less… the studios profit $30B… the execs take home close to $800M among 8 of them.
Writers are asking for less than 2% of the profits to split among 11,000 writers…
I’m sure the 11,000 writers deserve at least 2%. Shit, I wish it was 3%
Going to watch Avatar then telling everyone else not to see it is very much like an older sibling eating all the candy, then telling us “oh you wouldn’t like it”.
I self identify as indigenous. I don’t care what nobody say..
I also biologically, culturally, mentally and emotionally, psychologically, addictively, rezzily, and forcefully identify as one too.
Almost got you Twitter Indians all mad, huh?

Congrats to our Critics Choice nominees! 15 nominations, including The Bear, Better Things, and Reservations Dogs for Best Comedy Series, Under the Banner of Heaven for Best Limited Series, and more.
Sometimes I be wanting to share things on social media.
Good news. Accomplished goals. Life achievements, etc.
Then I think “this ain’t nobody’s business but mine”.
Then I keep it pushing.
Just know I’m blessed and grateful.
I’m glad that out of all the news from the Golden Globes, it’s
@lily_gladstone
that is blowing up my feed on all social media platforms.
Congrats Lily. We’re all so proud of you.
Dear Emmy voters:
If Reservation Dogs isn’t nominated for an Emmy, William Knifeman will haunt your daily breaks on the shitter to give you useless knowledge about how you need to be a better person.
We need a Tubi for native film
Even the crappy ones. Yea I said it, there’s crappy native films out there. I’ll even put one of mine on that list. I ain’t too proud to admit my first films could have been better
But for real y’all. Let’s find a home for under-appreciated films

I been going to the same barber for almost a decade now.
Today he said to me:
“I remember back when you were doing your comedy thing. I used to get off work and see you walking down the road like ‘Chad you need a ride?’. Now your on tv and shit”
Those reminders are everything
@Bobbydues
We’ve been saying this since time immemorial… it’s a phrase that we immemorialized in time. Since time was immemorialized. We did that. In that good way. Since time immemorial.
I went to Costco specifically for a vacuum. Then seen that the vacuum I wanted was $600.
I couldn’t justify spending $600 on a vacuum.
So I walked around and spent $600 on a whole bunch of stuff I don’t need 😒.

When I was a kid, I remember asking my grandpa why we always had brown sugar, brown bread, brown rice, etc…
He simply replied “brown is always the better choice”
I took that as a lesson throughout my life.

There are no rules to whether or not you stay on or leave the Rez. You’re not any less indigenous if you live away from home.
It’s still possible to keep your family, community, and culture close if you don’t live within those government enforced borders of tribal land.
