Saying Tiana's should have been Lion King in Magic Kingdom only shows the problem was in fact with Tiana and not with replacing Song of the South. Very telling.
NEW: Walt Disney World is currently in the process of filing permits for development work behind Magic Kingdom that will prepare the area for a future expansion expected to be the largest expansion in the park’s history.

What other developer has had their 30-year master developer agreement nullified? If they are treated equally I assume it should only take a couple seconds to give some examples of this equality.
Disney to the press - "we have plans to invest $17B and create 13,000 new jobs in the next 10 years"
Disney to shareholders - "we have plans to invest $17B and create 13,000 new jobs in the next 10 years"
Dinsey in US Federal Court filings - "we have plans to invest $17B and

Are you denying the fact that their developer agreement was nullified or do you somehow think it is a special privilege?

No other company is 87% landowner in a special district in a swamp. What exactly do you think they are getting away with that is somehow not in the public's interest by paying for the infrastructure where no one else will?
"For Disney fans, Bags Inc. was the company that handled a lot of the luggage services for Disney’s Magical Express toward the end of that service’s run. Bags Inc. also was contracted by Disney for other services before it was sold and renamed."

It looks centered in the circle to me. The planter protrudes into the circle, making it look like the logo is off-center. You can see a continuous circle in the pavement under my crude highlight.
@disneyglimpses
Good thing I don't consider anything I don't own as untouchable. Lol.
If they remove things I like, I'll do something else. I don't feel owed and I'm not a gatekeeper of what is and isn't allowed to happen at Disney.
This is the systematic dismantling of the WDW bubble. I cannot emphasize enough that the bubble is actually my number 1 reason for vacationing at the resort so frequently. You take that away, then much of the appeal will be lost for me. I can't imagine I am the only one.
"The majority of the money will be used to link the airport to Universal’s new theme park via train."
First, this is awesome. This is exactly the type of thing these special districts do. Similarly, it's amazing what RCID was able to accomplish before they were taken over to be
For comparative purposes, I took a look at my own non-AP, non-Deluxe trips.
In Feb of 2020, we went on a Saturday to Thursday, stayed at POR, had a 6-day standard ticket, and the dining plan:
Package total: $3,761.04
Add parking: $125
Grand total: $3,886.04
For the same trip
How much more expensive is a WDW trip today vs. 2019?
For me/my family:
Genie+/LL +$2500
Food increases (and no TIW) +$1500
Transportation (no DME) +$600
Annual Pass increases +$850
Within a margin of error, it costs somewhere between $5,000 and $6,000 more today than 2019.
Still amazed at the amount of people who simply do not understand no expansions can happen at WDW until the lawsuits and Developer Agreement is resolved. If it isn't resolved by D23 this year, don't expect anything beyond concept - because they can't.
Please, someone out there, tell me what "oversight" he thought RCID had over Disney that they do not now have? RCID never told Disney what they could and couldn't build. They had permit review to ensure it was per Epcot Building Code, etc. (And still do)
@DisneyDan
I mean, since there are so many other videos of the storyline out there, clearly she was excluded because they don't like her or something. I mean, it can't be true because they let all the other people do it and just not her right?
Just got home from Wish. I liked it, but more importantly, my 8yo daughter, who has been looking forward to it and talking about it for months, loved it. Not sure who's keeping track of that metric, but it'll extend well beyond the box office.
@disneyglimpses
Looks average as far as wait times go. Touring Plans has it as a 6 and their waits are tracking about 10 minutes below posted wait for most of the longer waits which is pretty typical.
Pretty good news. Disney committed on paper in a legal agreement to do the very thing they said they were going to do all along that many didn't believe they were going to do.
Why anyone would think anyone would want to build in this environment is beyond me. They are literally penalizing growth of the Central Florida tourism industry.
@EvanPatel11
As someone who is colorblind, the new colors are so much more vibrant. The old scheme just looks like flat pastel to me. I like it to pop.
Further evidence that Peltz doesn't give a flip about the guest experience or Walt's vision. He is not the savior some think he is.
He certainly isn’t going to paint the castle...
Disney board contender Nelson Peltz on CNBC this morning: He went Disney World last week and noticed "the people were wonderful, all the employees were smiling and that's probably in large part because they didn't own any Disney stock." 🤣
@gatortebowfan15
It's like you just don't want it to be true. They are literally hiring people to do it, and you still think it's not real and just something said to the press.
@SirBrayden
Developers commonly craft Developer Agreements. It's also common for agreements to be prepared by people other than the author.
Do you think Sumter County penned the agreement with the Villages?

I have not had a single client complain about reservations or Genie. They come back and tell me about the magical moments they had.
Distwitter is its own diorama of an echo chamber.
@ScottGustin
Did anyone tell him that the board doesn't determine what Disney is? They build and maintain infrastructure, provide the fire department, and approve land use.
@disneyglimpses
Transportation is big for us - especially Pop and the Skyliner. You can get a room for under $200 this summer and fly to two of the parks and the Boardwalk.

@ScottGustin
From what I have read, forward looking statements at a shareholder meeting are SEC regulated so they have to be much more careful in their wording than something like D23.
Being able to announce significant expansion plans for WDW at D23 is a win for Disney, Disney fans, and the State of Florida. The win win win doesn't need to be more complicated than that.
@LMGVids
Sounds like you already grasp it pretty well but in case you haven't read this, it might add more color.
I'm definitely give your video a watch when it's out.

It’s hard to see from the art, but there are new ponds, streams, and waterfalls that are being created, so it’s not a total loss of water. There will actually be more kinetic energy with this than there currently is in the area. But as for why…

Your friendly reminder that Disney is an entertainment company at its core. Parks is but a division of it, and has always been a means to pay for other projects (except for when other projects paid for it). Many companies that have core values do this. You do the things that
And it is clear once again, that the profit made by the parks is being wasted in Iger's entertainment failures. Hence why the stock is down.
When will you guys all learn that Iger and his control of the board is the problem.
The parks will get better when he's gone.

You think Orange county wants to build and maintain Disney World's roads and utilities? For no additional $? You do realize they cannot tax at the same rate the district can, right? It would mean the citizens of Orange County would be on the hook for paying for much much more.
IMHO, I think Imagineers should stop dreaming up things big in concepts. Forget about that notion that concept art is supposed to guide the tone and feel of the design. Just skip it - go straight to design. DisX cannot handle the nuance and it appears to break too many people.

Hong Kong Disneyland - $91

I'm curious about the why. I'm wondering if it goes as far as no longer having the sponsorship so now some of the features have to be removed?

Honestly, my comment was more about the ridiculousness of all of the negativity - it really does cut both ways and it is interesting how many people don't see it.
It's absolutely no coincidence the agreement is reached/announced around the same time we're learning about new leadership in the district, including a new district administrator and new chairman.

I'm hopeful that D23 was their attempt at underpromising and over-delivering. Think of the flack they catch if something doesn't match the artist rendering (nothing ever does). With the cuts and everything else, I think they just didn't want to go out on a limb.

There are four stages before getting to construction. Blue Sky is the first. The concept drawing is in the second. It's *possible* the concept art doesn't get updated once the model is complete. Feasibility is after concept and that's likely when the call of where it goes is

They are increasing their fees line item 56% and taking in another $10MM, while reducing capital outlays. They are increasing their labor another $5MM and only adding 12 position. Professional services is another $5MM.

My kid will never know SoS. She is very familiar with Tiana. It doesn't have to get any deeper than that. They swapped an old, no longer relevant or marketable IP, for one that is relevant and marketable to this and future generations.
It's wild to me how people can look down their nose at Disney for the DisneylandForward proposal as some nefarious attempt for zoning consideration when part of the package is $30M for affordable housing and $8M for community (not Disney) parks.
DisX entitlement is unrivaled.
Do the people asking "where is the color?" understand that plants and colors are seasonal and it is December? No doubt FL has blooming flowers in the winter, but perhaps the LA didn't design it to pop in December like it will in April.
New scenario taking the most likely slot...
Mediated settlement of the contractual dispute in the state case and dropping of the federal case.
As much as I prefer to see the federal case play out for constitutional reasons, I think Disney just wants their developer agreement in
In a new interview, DeSantis claims he and the state Florida has “moved on” from its dispute with Disney. He also asked Iger and Disney to drop its lawsuit against the state.
DeSantis: “No one has made more money for Disney recently than me…”
This says a lot right here. I do not mean a DIS vs UNI thing, but as a barometer of where the market is. If $dis's prediction of a soft market is because of their own actions and pricing and not reflective of where theme park destination travel is overall, who is doing it better
Disney reported a huge increase in their parks division the last quarter. $DIS
+10% Revenue and +12% Operating Income
Compared to Universal's Theme Parks which saw only a +1.5% in Revenue and actually saw -3.9% in Operating Income.
@DSNYNewscast
They can't announce the construction of something on land that is not zoned for theme park construction. They can't design anything without having a solid developer agreement that tells them the rules they have to design to.
Fun fact, the "affected property owners" consist of Disney and the RCID board members. The residents aren't property owners as they rent from Disney. The CFTOD just showed emails between the affected property owners.
