Parents and students were thrilled with Castell Alun’s exceptional GCSE results this summer. The outcomes this summer represent one of the best set of results in the history of the school. Higher grade pass rates in all subjects were extremely impressive. Congratulations all!
A level, AS, GCSE, Skills Challenge Certificate and Welsh Baccalaureate grades in Wales will now be awarded on the basis of Centre Assessment Grades.

Well done to LIES (Louis, Issac, Evan, Sam), our Year 7 Rock Band, who recently played a charity gig at Penyffordd British Legion Club and raised over £550 for Cancer Research. Respect lads!
Due to the current weather situation and high probability of a further decline on Friday, Castell Alun will be closed on Friday 2nd March on the grounds of the health and safety of children on site and also national travel warnings for staff and parents.
Mr Meilyr Rowlands, Chief Inspector of ESTYN, visited school this morning. He could clearly see why we had such a successful inspection report. Our students were fantastic as ever!
The Christmas Market run by Year 10 as part of their Welsh Bacc Enterprise Challenge on Tuesday was simply fantastic. All proceeds were given to Hope House, and we are ecstatic to report that the sum raised for this worthy charity was in the region of a whopping £4500 in total!

Due to the extreme temperatures forecast for the next two days, students are allowed to wear their usual SCHOOL PE kit should they wish for tomorrow (28/6) and Friday (29/6). No other branded sports clothing please. Thank you.

We are now able to confirm that students will be permitted to wear their school PE kit until the end of term, due to the unseasonably hot temperatures.
In an tremendous year of results Castell Alun has not only seen its students accept a record number of places on traditional top university courses, but also had a number of hard-working, gifted young adults achieve places on highly acclaimed diverse niche courses around the UK.
Our KS3 students turned out in force, and many in fancy dress, to run around the school field as many times as possible this week. Proceeds raised will go towards enhancing our provision and equipping the campus with new resources as requested by our Student Council. Well done!
