The fact that multiple sports journalists & anchors are coming out & shitting on John Fisher, MLB, & the owners just goes to show how crazy this potential relocation is. Why do I get the feeling that this is all drama & somehow someone will save the A’s & keep them in Oakland?
Bip Roberts announced on

that he is interested in running for the Mayor of Oakland should Mayor Sheng Thao be removed from office. If it’s in the cards, I hope he wins and renegotiates talks with Fisher to somehow keep the A’s in Oakland.

Bay Area groups interested in buying the A’s or bringing an expansion team to Oakland have been warned to keep quiet by Oakland Officials — otherwise they risk being crossed off the list of potential buyers. Something’s up behind the scenes 👀

So MLB & Manfred don’t want Bay Area investors to publicly express their interest in keeping baseball in Oakland (partially due to embarrassment & unnecessary relocation), but the fact that this news leaked isn’t embarrassing enough?
The A's Have Apparently Failed To Secure Any Investors For Their Vegas Stadium + There's A Rumored Gag Order In Place On Bay Area Investment Groups Interested In Keeping Baseball in Oakland
@BarstoolHubbs
Sources close to Oakland politics tell the Chronicle that if Mayor Sheng Thao is replaced, the change might provide an opportunity for the A’s and the city to discuss a reunion.
Didn’t Reggie Jackson & Bill Gates have the highest bid for the A’s back in 2005 but Wolff & Fisher were picked by MLB instead? How do we know the highest bidder will get picked?
@CaseyAPratt
If Las Vegas falls through, could Sacramento keep the A's--or would the team go to the highest bidder?

But at this point, it's evolving into bad business for the other owners, to have this blight on their industry that will only worsen. It's moving into McCourt territory -- the Dodgers' situation hurt all of them. Same with the A's now.
When asked by the Chronicle about playing on artificial turf at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento next season, several Oakland A’s players had no idea that was in the works.
I wonder what the chances are of MLB changing the A’s home playing location on the 2025 schedule from SAC back to OAK are if LV stadium falls through,
@MLBPA
raises concern about SAC renovations, or the team is sold during the offseason?
Oakland fans, the fight is still going!
We need to keep the dialogue going, reaching as many people as possible! It’s not over yet! OAKLAND NEVER QUITS!
If anyone has any new ideas or strategies, we’re all ears. We can’t let the talk or the noise die down!
KEEP FIGHTING!!!!!!
Given everything that has happened over the last 14 months, I feel like this A’s stadium saga is far from over. Just gotta keep the faith and wait and see.
3) The Coliseum will still be there. Groups still exist that would buy the team. The A’s would obviously be welcomed back to the table under current or new ownership.
Not trying to give false hope, but nothing’s settled until shovels are in the ground in LV. Show me the money.
Woke up furious that John Fischer has jacked the price up 10x for 3RD DECK TICKETS to the final home game ever at the Oakland Coliseum.
Not shocked. But what a joke.

Details of the coming changes, timing free and unlocked at ESPN:
“… should the A's Stadium Deal in LV fall through there could arise a situation where Oak & Sac are the two competing cities that are trying to get the A's back here … a long term home & a new up & coming development in East Oakland could be the thing that brings them back.”

Every single day the entire

world talks about how much of a joke John Fisher’s relocation is. This shit ain’t fooling no one.
If the A’s are uncertain about giving up their half of the Coliseum land, something tells me the door isn’t quite shut on Oakland. On the other hand, I thought Fisher needed the money from the Coliseum land sale to help fund LV?
“It’s going to be difficult,” Raburn said. “We’re still uncertain the AASEG will be able to get Fisher’s half of the Coliseum, and that’s — we haven’t been able to do anything with developing the Coliseum into a transit-oriented, large-scale area because the A’s are uncertain.”
With Oakland investors told to be quiet by Oakland Officials, Manfred’s quote is starting to make sense now. Maybe there is a path where MLB stays or expands to Oakland.

I'm guessing until after Tampa is approved and a DA is signed in Vegas. Oakland is being made an example of to leverage money out of other markets.
Hard to believe that Fisher can pivot to the Rio site now even if a special session with the NVLeg is held in February. It’s Trop or bust. The NBA is taking initiative and has the funds to back there project. Only room for one major venue, not two.
Update: Told Oak View has begun soil testing in Rio’s 22-acre parking lot to determine its suitability for an NBA-ready arena. The usually communicative Rio team has gone quiet in response to our request to have this confirmed, which is absolutely glorious.
Say all the renovations are completed this off-season and the MLBPA still rejects this plan — primarily due to the astroturf concerns. It wouldn’t surprise me if there is a 2025 schedule for Oakland sitting on the back-burner just in case.
Tony Clark and the

"A’s will be forced to adhere to Triple-A schedule in Sacramento, endure blazing heat for Sunday day games"

If Fisher is trying to convince investors/developers/lenders that the evaluation of the A’s is 2B (which there not), wouldn’t the value of the club dramatically depreciate moving into a minor league ballpark for three to four years?
Casey has been on top of the A’s relocation saga from the beginning and l hope he & the city are given the opportunity to re-open MLB conversations back to Oakland with the A’s or an expansion team.
It’s time to stop talking about it and be about it! Casey is made for this!

Yup. Also, heat is unavoidable in Sac. Hi heat is usually around 4-6pm. It hits at both times of day.
I have a fix though... Play in Oakland, problem solved.
Rumor is A’s met with owners of Rio last week. There’s no denying this saga is one of the most entertaining (and confounding) in the history of Las Vegas.
A’s fans have been aware of Bay Area investors interested in keeping the team in the Bay and the issues with the Sac renovations, why does

When asked by the Chronicle about playing on artificial turf at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento next season, several Oakland A’s players had no idea that was in the works.
So 2 things I am getting from this:
1) They are definitely intending to sell PSLs and the authority will contribute that money directly towards construction costs. (
@memeshiftedwake
)
2) They have no financing secured yet, but will need the cooperation of everyone to do so. lol
@ColiseumSewage
I wonder if there is serious talk about shutting down the team for 3-4 years/contraction and the A’s don’t want guaranteed radio contracts on the books…. they also don’t want to tip their hand with renewal language to protect against it…

What happens if all of these renovations are made and
@MLBPA
still believes it doesn’t meet health & safety standards? Would Fisher have to scramble last minute? I find it difficult to believe that this astroturf will fly, regardless of limited day games.
The issue is that they are going to take out the natural grass and put in artificial turf. The temp on turf gets 30+ degrees hotter than the surface temperature. If it’s 110 degrees, the turf could met shoes and burn players if they dive. Not gonna fly for big leaguers.
The Sacramento-bound A’s aren’t just facing a future playing in Central Valley heat, they’ll be playing on a sizzling astroturf carpet sure to dial on-field temps to ‘intolerable’ for MLB players.

The Oakland A’s planned move to Sacramento has MLB’s schedule makers wrangling with several issues, including a shared field, valley heat and a turf surface.
Damon & Scott made an interesting point that Fisher’s end game could be to find an investor/group to pay for half or all stadium costs, stay there for 5 years, & bounce.
But if Joe Lacob has stated he has the $ to get HT done — why doesn’t Fisher jump on this if it costs him 0?

I thought the Coliseum would be converted into a soccer field for the Roots and Soul? The fact that the baseball field is still there peaks my interest 🤔
Oakland city council unanimously approved proposal to advance revitalization of the coliseum complex with AASEG!
This means more jobs, activity, business, and revenue to support vital public services for the long term!
Tony Clark is literally admitting he doesn’t know what his options will be if we go into 2025 & park still isn’t MLB ready
Noteworthy to me was this:
“At the point of time that one side is saying it’s done, and we’re saying it’s not, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
I remember reading an
@Athletics
official press release when the Coliseum was mentioned as the backup plan if HT fell through. Wish there would’ve been some contractual obligation to this.
For more context, Kaval said Coliseum site was an assured route to a stadium if HT failed. AlCo sold their half in sweetheart deal for Fisher, they violated Surplus Land Act, Oak sued, MLB said to drop it, Oak did, then Coliseum site was suddenly no longer viable. Very shady.
“The A’s have not secured funding to build a new stadium, but team executives told Las Vegas officials that “we’re in good shape with the financing.” - David Danzis of LVRJ
At least a writer for the LVRJ wrote about how the A’s have not secured funding.
“If the LV stadium falls apart or expansion is in the cards then this puts Oakland in a prime position to receive either. AASEG group is on the same level as other MLB ownership groups and is exactly who the league would want to deal with.”
Continue the fight!

Many doom loopers said it couldn’t get done. But
@MayorShengThao
has announced the sale of the City’s half of the Coliseum to AASEG!
This sale protect critical services, leads to a 5 billion investment into East Oakland, and ensures the Coliseum will live on for years to come!
There is still some hopium left in the tank, Oakland fans.
Things are still happening behind the scenes. Here’s to hoping it materializes!
Temper your expectations, but don’t give up hope yet!
@AlexMarksNV
Sounds like Fisher is stalling, hoping the deal falls through on Bally’s/Glpi side. That would enable him to blame them and save the embarrassment of backing out himself.
So Fisher and Co. didn’t have a development agreement draft ready and pretty much stole a copy from the Raiders while making minor adjustments to it. These are not serious people.
This helps explain why LVSA was able to produce a draft of an incomplete development agreement.
It’s like a copy/paste job from Raiders stadium experience.
Edits will obviously be made.
Question is, when will the final draft be available?
@DALLASBRADEN209
Vince has been incredible! It’s a shame Fisher is tearing the A’s out of Oakland — otherwise I like to believe Vince would’ve been back next season.

Hi, I'm Erin. I have been an A's fan since 1988 or 4th grade. It was the best of times. I wear a lotnof hats but mom is a favorite and will fill the roll of surrogate mom for you for anything you need, even if it's just a hug.
Trevor May is just not it for the A’s. Frustrating to see him throw one right down the middle to Rutschman and watch him yawn like it’s nothing as he walks off the mound.
I don’t believe MLB will let them squat in Sacramento for more than a year without a game plan moving forward. I do agree that there has been more movement in Sacramento than LV as of late.
Worth noting there's been no movement regarding Vegas yet more movement in Sacramento. They are going to squat there and keep raking in revenue sharing. I shudder to think how they will handle playoffs because that park can only hold 10k, no going back to Oakland for 50k!
I won’t be saying goodbye to the Oakland Athletics. I think it’s a waste of time. This season wasn’t the last they’ll play in Oakland. It’s not even the last they’ll play at the coliseum.
While the Oakland Athletics took SS Jacob Wilson of Grand Canyon University with the 6th pick, fans chant at Commissioner Rob Manfred,
“SELL THE TEAM!” and “STAY IN OAKLAND!”
Last week Nike came out with new MLB Knit Hats and they have Oakland on them. Nike has no problem committing to the name Oakland — more so since they are also responsible for making MLB’s jerseys after all 🤷🏻♂️
“We’re starting that with Nike and with the league because it takes a couple of years to get that figured out,” Kaval told the Review-Journal. “Our marketing team is working on that.”

What I’ve seen so far looks like Vegas is done and a player boycott of Sac is brewing. The other shoe is deactivating the team until Fisher builds a stadium somewhere. Leaving a hole in the AL west until then.
I won’t be saying goodbye to the Oakland Athletics. I think it’s a waste of time. This season wasn’t the last they’ll play in Oakland. It’s not even the last they’ll play at the coliseum.
Forget funding for a second...did they even finalize the design and secure detailed blueprints? There's no sense in putting shovels in the ground if you don't know what to build!!! 2028 is not happening, 2032 at best.
Doris, get your man child
MLB, get your head out of your ass
Thank you for sharing Casey! Since Sacramento doesn’t seem like a viable option (especially w/temp & turf concerns), what’s the point of them doing these renovations?
A lot of understandable emotion about this being the last Battle of the Bay.
I’m numb to it.
1) 1989 will live forever. (😂 Sorry,

2) Until shovels are in the ground in LV, I don’t buy Sac as a viable option. Especially with shoe-melting turf temps.
