My ex-husband just told me abt the death of his sister-in-law. She went to the ER with severe knee pain, swelling, etc. After being told they don’t give pain pills to “drug seekers” she was sent away. She was hospitalized 3 days later w/ sepsis from infection in her knee & died

I read an article about some of the teenagers who went through this treatment. They said they had to lie that the therapy is helping in order to eventually leave the program because if they truthfully said it was not working, the staff told their parents they needed more therapy.

In the US most pain patients no longer have a choice. They either go to pain management clinics or live in excruciating pain. I personally know of an oncologist who gave up & is shutting his doors because of harassment by DEA because of pain meds he Rx’d to his cancer patients.

This big boy has an ear infection. The vet couldn’t see his eardrum because of swelling & “gunk.” 😢 But he’s on meds & will probably be A-OK very soon. Beau now weighs a whopping 126.6 lbs, which is 20 lbs gained since February. At least he’s stopped trying to sit in my lap. 😂

Interesting perspective. Severe pain sent me into shock but luckily I was in the ER in time and was treated well. This was back in 2007 before the malice and stupidity of the anti-opioid propaganda kicked into high gear.

Monitoring patients weekly is abusive. It’s already a hardship going to monthly appointments. The few chronic pain patients still able to work get enormous pushback from employers. “You already have regular appointments with other specialists. Get them to Rx your pain meds too.”

Now you can’t get opiate pain medicine in a hospital after major surgery. The pendulum has swung too far. People with chronic, severe pain have committed suicide because no one will treat their severe pain with what has been the gold standard for 100’s of years: opiates.

Baloney....except that you are correct it doesn’t eliminate the cause of the pain. For millions, there is no way to eliminate the cause. And we aren’t turning backflips. We’re extremely cautious to not do anything that will aggravate the painful condition.

I got really bad “vibes” from him the first time I saw him on in a video. Something was very off about him but I couldn’t pinpoint it & I actually didn’t want to know. I wanted to believe he was the real deal. I’m very saddened, but not surprised, to learn the truth.

My daughter went thru extensive cognitive behavioral therapy designed to help her attend school more frequently with migraines. It was a complete flop. No improvement whatsoever. Want to know what helped? Treating her damned pain helped. 😡 They let her suffer on purpose.😡

I sincerely think we’re witnessing a suicide epidemic misidentified as accidental opiate overdoses. IMO, we have two crises-1) a mental health crisis 2) a crisis created by untreated severe chronic pain. Both groups r committing suicide & opiate overdose is the most common method

I wonder what affect this ruling may have on the Somalia communities in the US, specifically MN & MI. If what I’ve read is true, many in Somalian conclaves have never held jobs or if they do, they still receive welfare benefits bc of the number of wives & children per household.

I went to a specialist who emphatically stated narcotics should never be used to treat pain because there are many good alternatives. So I jumped thru all the hoops AGAIN: trying meds/therapies that provided too little or no relief....and then he said he could no longer treat me.

My brother’s wife is a doctor who’s completely disabled & lives n excruciating pain. They live in Johnson City. My brother drives her 600 miles round-trip 2 pain mgmt clinic n Nashville. The trip is agonizing 4 her so they spend 1 - 2 nights in Nashville. Doesn’t that seem odd?

The current plan of action to reduce opiate ODs by denying pain patients adequate pain relief is akin to trying to fix a high-tech military weapon by employing a moron with a wrench. Torturing patients is not a solution, especially when patients aren’t the ones who OD’ing.

If the surgery you need is truly elective….not an emergency or a matter of life & death….be sure you find out how your post-op pain will be treated & please do not accept “everybody does just fine with Tylenol/Motrin” as an acceptable answer. Ive had identical surgeries 1/2

People will stop having surgery unless they are actually going to die very very soon without it. It push people to wait until it’s an emergency situation. No more elective surgeries or procedures. That’s gonna hurt more than just the patients....

Mr. Daniels, the VA cut off opioids and heavy tranquilizers to most veterans years ago. Suicide due to untreated physical pain is a huge problem among injured and ill veterans.

I had not heard that explanation before but one neurologist told me my last MRI showed scarring on my brain which she attributed to my decades of uncontrolled migraines.

Again, baloney. Living as normal life as possible with adequate pain control allows a person to live a longer and relatively healthier life. The stress on a body from unrelieved severe pain is very deadly. Pain can actually kill.

Best to start pushing your state legislators to pass laws making it illegal in your home state to follow any unconstitutional laws created by executive orders or otherwise. A few states are already working on this. It will protect their citizens’ 1st, 2nd, etc., amendment rights

I had similar experiences with my chronic pain. When I was in my twenties a lot of doctors acted like I was faking pain & some of them were downright mean. After MRI technology improved, the reason for my pain was obvious. But they should not have disparaged me to begin with.

I sincerely disagree with ur assessment. I think he’s getting terrible advice from people who are trying to make a big profit while reducing the population. All presidents HAVE to rely on advisers. But when it’s all said & done the buck stops at his desk. He is still responsible.

I was told not to take Motrin (until given the ok but the surgeon) after recent osteotomies because it inhibits healing of the bones. It’s bad enough that under-treated post-op pain inhibits recovery but could it be argued they are setting up her surgery for failure?
