Muslims can kick up dust at a school board meeting in Dearborn, MI without anyone calling the cops on them for disturbing the peace or worse. We all know a white Christian would not be allowed to walk out unless being escorted in handcuffs. Don’t forget that letter to AG Merrick.
My ex-husband just told me abt the death of his sister-in-law. She went to the ER with severe knee pain, swelling, etc. After being told they don’t give pain pills to “drug seekers” she was sent away. She was hospitalized 3 days later w/ sepsis from infection in her knee & died

I read an article about some of the teenagers who went through this treatment. They said they had to lie that the therapy is helping in order to eventually leave the program because if they truthfully said it was not working, the staff told their parents they needed more therapy.

So??! I had a similar experience over 30 years ago and yes, I got that job. I was a married woman who just had my first (and as it turned out, only) child. I did what was best for my family at that time. You just do those things, fair or unfair, easy or too damn hard…..you just

My ex-husband (career law enforcement & currently a chief of police) agrees with you. LE’s primary task is to collect evidence of crime, determine identify of offender, apprehend offender, & send case to prosecutors. Protecting us, IF possible, is incidental to the primary task.

The majority of children living in poverty are living in a household with only one parent - the mother. Sometimes those kiddos turn out fine and the mom manages to pull the family out of poverty but they are the exception to the rule.

I’ve frequently wondered if Pence was supposed to be the President’s “handler.” Is it true Trump had to accept Pence as his running mate in order to prevent a floor fight at the RNC in 2016? Was accepting Pence part of a deal Trump made to get the supposed support of the GOPe?
@GeorgePapa19
It’s the United Kingdom. They are not our allies. They have needed us but they do not like us and are still trying trying to reclaim authority over us. They are using a coporate-run government to do it.

I was thinking the same about Arkansas. If it happened here, there is a fair to good chance the elderly driver would have attempted to take some of those thugs permanently out of commission.
@ibdgirl76
The new “reality” they are forging: all pain is psychological, Tylenol + ibuprofen = efficacy of strong opium-based meds for severe pain, pain doesn’t inhibit healing or function, med schools teaching pain isn’t real, etc. Calling it “gaslighting” downplays its destructiveness.

These business owners in many states are just now getting to reopen after taking HUGE losses due to the COVID19 debacle and now they have to deal with looters. Their patience is GONE. Kaput. Don’t test them.

Does Sweden have very restrictive gun laws? Are people charged without serious crimes for merely defending themselves? I’ve read of rape victims, in other European countries, being charged with major crimes for trying to fight off their attackers.

My cotton picking white grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles would disagree with you. I heard that phrase my entire childhood in the south, within the family and among friends and neighbors. It had ZERO racist connotations.

Opioids have been a “natural way” to relieve pain for thousands years, but it sounds like she thinks we want to take oxycodone or hydrocodone to relieve pain caused by hangnails or sore muscles from a bit of overexertion. 🤦🏼♀️
This big boy has an ear infection. The vet couldn’t see his eardrum because of swelling & “gunk.” 😢 But he’s on meds & will probably be A-OK very soon. Beau now weighs a whopping 126.6 lbs, which is 20 lbs gained since February. At least he’s stopped trying to sit in my lap. 😂

Interesting perspective. Severe pain sent me into shock but luckily I was in the ER in time and was treated well. This was back in 2007 before the malice and stupidity of the anti-opioid propaganda kicked into high gear.

As a child, my dad (a pastor) told me 2 always be wary of people who publicly vaunted their higher moral standards. It's still sound advice.
@BethDarnall
Monitoring patients weekly is abusive. It’s already a hardship going to monthly appointments. The few chronic pain patients still able to work get enormous pushback from employers. “You already have regular appointments with other specialists. Get them to Rx your pain meds too.”
@calleymeans
@DrJBhattacharya
Now you can’t get opiate pain medicine in a hospital after major surgery. The pendulum has swung too far. People with chronic, severe pain have committed suicide because no one will treat their severe pain with what has been the gold standard for 100’s of years: opiates.

Hostility from healthcare “professionals” (not personnel at my PM or Primary Dr. They’re great.) A male nurse screamed in my face after my last surgery bc I had the audacity to request pain relief & insinuated I was lying about receiving additional pain meds w/ prior surgeries.

The current plan of action to reduce opiate ODs by denying pain patients adequate pain relief is akin to trying to fix a high-tech military weapon by employing a moron with a wrench. Torturing patients is not a solution, especially when patients aren’t the ones who OD’ing.

The physician’s assistant I saw at my pain clinic this week had the nerve to ask me why I never look happy anytime I have an appointment. Really? I’m treated like I’m a irresponsible child and addict every time and I’m supposed to happy about that?
@life_is_art___
If the surgery you need is truly elective….not an emergency or a matter of life & death….be sure you find out how your post-op pain will be treated & please do not accept “everybody does just fine with Tylenol/Motrin” as an acceptable answer. Ive had identical surgeries 1/2

Mr. Daniels, the VA cut off opioids and heavy tranquilizers to most veterans years ago. Suicide due to untreated physical pain is a huge problem among injured and ill veterans.

The irony…..Anti-opioid zealots also claim there is little evidence for the safety & effectiveness of Rx opiates to treat chronic pain and use that excuse to refuse to prescribe them. But it’s okey dokey to aggressively push epidural corticosteroid injections for pain.

That’s not racism. It’s free speech criticizing a Marxist organization that was grifting millions of dollars from duped people who thought they were actually helping.
@ibdgirl76
It’s the destruction of “individualized” health care. Experiencing pain is highly individualized & that is why it can’t be tolerated or treated as the reality it is. The individual is not important because, in their view, the individual does not matter. It’s Marxist to its core.

The “frequent flyer” remark smacks of the sort of bias many chronic pain patients frequently encounter. It’s a denigrating comment meant to imply the patient is a “drug seeker.” That’s the real rub about chronic painful conditions. They’re chronic......

I was told not to take Motrin (until given the ok but the surgeon) after recent osteotomies because it inhibits healing of the bones. It’s bad enough that under-treated post-op pain inhibits recovery but could it be argued they are setting up her surgery for failure?
