KERN CANYON: Check out a behind the scenes look on SR 178, as the 30-foot boulder in the roadway was blasted by the District 6 Blasting Team. Crews are continuing to remove rocks and conduct repairs as necessary. State Route 178 is expected to reopen this evening.

A lot has changed since an hour ago when this was posted. As of 4:45pm: .- SR 58 is open with CHP escorting traffic through the Tehachapi pass.- SR 166 is open with CHP escorting traffic from Santa Maria to Maricopa.
Currently, SR 101/46 is the only viable detour between Central and Southern CA. Travelers, be aware there is substantial traffic on the 101 in southern Ventura/Santa Barbara counties, on the 101 between Santa Maria and Paso Robles, and on 41/46 heading to Paso Robles.
