#Solidarity
! We've been asking for solidarity and so many people have come through! This week we are going to be posting a lot of thank you messages to individuals and organizations who have been showing solidarity while we've been on strike.
Dalhousie's surplus has grown massively due to tuition increases and yet they choose to shut down the university instead of paying their teachers a fair wage.

Dalhousie President Deep Saini received a 'cost of living' raise of $66,000 last year. He now makes over $500,000. Why are Dal TAs and PTAs asked to take buying power pay cut?

appreciate so much that he took a moment in his address to acknowledge the important role that PTAs TAs, Markers, and Demonstrators play in a student's education.
Our working conditions are student's learning conditions! We work as TA's, Instructors, Markers, Lab Demonstrators, and we are an integral part of students' learning experiences.

CUPE 3912 and Dal Admin will return to the negotiating table next week. In the meantime, the strike will continue and pressure on Dal to give members a deal that matches the value of their labor is needed more than ever!

Rent, tuition, and inflation are all increasing faster than our wages, leading to a loss in our buying power. Meanwhile, Dalhousie has continued to increase their surplus. How are we supposed to teach if we can't afford to eat?

After a productive first day of bargaining, Dalhousie chose to use our only remaining scheduled bargaining time to present an effectively identical offer from yesterday.
A special membership meeting is being organized for next week. Details coming soon.
While Dalhousie's Administration declined to spend $1.6 million for TA and PTA pay to reach halfway to parity with other Canadian universities, they have no problem spending $36.5 million on a hockey rink.
