Or you can just accept that the WBC is a big deal, especially to the players, and what happened to Diaz was a fluke accident and had nothing to do with it being the WBC. Prime example is Gavin Lux. He didn’t play in the WBC yet he’s done for the year too

First off, you can’t even see if the pitcher is on the rubber. If he is, yes, it’s a balk but we can’t see. Secondly, that is just as much on the 3rd base coach as it is on the runner. Terrible awareness by both but great play by the pitcher and 3B

It’s not that. The team is buying out their arb years and taking all the risk. They’re paying them for what they are worth now with the hope of them outperforming their contract later. It’s essentially a trade off that both sides seem to be okay with so 🤷🏻♂️

Idk why this is getting so overblown. It took up about the same time as a mound visit & less time than a replay review. He just stole 30 more bags than most exclusive HR/SB club. Also, David Ross had zero issue with it & said he deserved that moment. The walk off was inevitable

To be fair, the team is taking all the risk here because he’s only played like 3 months in the big leagues. So you can’t be valued but so much this early on. He could be another Acuña or he could be a dud. Certainly seems like he will be a star but still unknown so early

Honestly, probably the best thing to keep Soroka down for now. He’s just starting to string together good starts. This allows him to keep working on his command and movement on his pitches without much pressure

I do like how Steichen won’t throw him under the bus or anything to that nature. AR definitely needs to be better but I do agree that Steichen can do better too. He got out-coached badly in the first half and there wasn’t a lot of open space out there

It also looks like he kind of changed the angle of his arm trajectory because he saw the defensive lineman sliding over and getting his arm up. It looks like a couple things happened at the last second that made him change his mind about trying to fit it in that window

I disagree. If AR is healthy, he needs to start. In 2 of Minshew’s wins, AR had led them to a lead when he departed with the other win coming on the back of the defense and kicker. Minshew has done a tremendous job not losing a game but he hasn’t gone out and won the game either
