The man sacrificed his elbow and shoulder to bring a world championship to Atlanta. A legend. I hope the Braves take care of him beyond his playing days
So many moments in the first half for the Braves, but this has to be my
#1
. The booth’s call, the comeback, breaking New York’s soul for the sweep. So good
Luke Jackson just struck out the side on 30 pitches. He also loaded the bases. It was the most Luke Jackson inning imaginable and brings a tear to my eye
The Braves are really going to win this division
Without Acuña for 50% of the year
Without Ozuna for 80% of the year
Without Soroka for 100% of the year
And didn’t spend a day above .500 until August 6th
Strider: out for the year
Acuña: out for the year
Fried: out indefinitely
Albies: likely out indefinitely
Harris: 6 weeks and counting
Murphy: missed 2 months
Riley: effectively missed 1 month
Cursed season
Soler’s swing will live forever, but Dansby’s homer to make it 5-0 in the fifth was probably the first time I let myself think “they’re actually going to do this”
This time one year ago, Jorge Soler led off with a homer, Charlie Morton pitched on a broken leg, the Night Shift covered 6.2 innings, and the Braves beat the Astros, 6-2, in Game 1 of the World Series
"Most everyone cruises past first, second and third base on their wedding night. But only one man in history went deep for a grand slam on his wedding night and joined the 30-60 club in the process" -
@BrandonGaudin
"I love this team. I don't wanna go anywhere. I'm here for life."
NL MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. joins
@CliffFloyd30
to discuss playing for the
@Braves
, style and more!
Braves Opening Day lineup in Philadelphia:
RF Acuña Jr.
2B Albies
3B Riley
1B Olson
DH Ozuna
CF Harris II
C Murphy
SS Arcia
LF Kelenic
RHP Spencer Strider
I realize Cubs fans have been going through it the last two nights, but the outrage over Ronald’s mini celebration is so soft. It was history. It took about the same amount of time as a mound visit with a slow walk. Stop crying
World Series MVP Jorge Soler
NLCS MVP Eddie Rosario
NLDS hero Joc Pederson
Starting CF Adam Duvall
for
Kasey Kalich
Pablo Sandoval
Bryce Ball
Alex Jackson
The Atlanta Braves are without
- the likely NL MVP
- a guy who almost won the triple crown last summer
- their leadoff hitter, who was the team’s 2nd best hitter down the stretch
- Mike Soroka
- and has a payroll of about $75M less
Stop crying
If I am the Braves in 2024, I would simply win a lot of regular season games, stay healthy, and win a second World Series in four years. It’s not much to ask for
The broadcast today on FS1 was really good by the way. Amazing how much more enjoyable the game is to watch when the announcers aren't crying about homers and no bunting for 3 hours
Looking back at NLCS clips. I know some of y’all didn’t love the broadcast, but this Brian Anderson call of Austin Riley’s game tying double in Game 2 is fantastic as Truist went nuts
The Braves are better suited to accommodate Marcell Ozuna better than maybe anyone
Pache's range in center can cover up LCF better than almost everyone
You can easily swap Ozuna out defensively in late innings
And if a DH gets added at the last minute, even better
Do it
The Braves, on their way to a 6th straight division title, dogwalking the corpse of the Mets with an 11-0 lead in a lifeless Citi Field in August makes me feel some kind of way
Cubs fans on the verge of a series sweep against Bryce Elder, Darius Vines and AJ Smith Shawver to effectively end the season are working through some things
It’s unfair to believe championship or bust in a sport when so often the best team for 6+ months doesn’t win it all, but I’m going to be wrecked if this team doesn’t go deep into October
I'm guessing Snit may sit Acuña tomorrow. If his regular season is over:
.338/.417/.597, 8.3 WAR, 171 wRC+, 41 HR, 73 SB, 217 hits, 149 runs, 106 RBI, 1 NL MVP
