Cheers to the black-footed ferret, feared extinct until Sept. 26, 1981, when a small colony was discovered on Lucille and John Hogg's ranch in Meeteetse, Wy. Now, @COParksWildlife works with a federal breeding program to reintroduce them in prairie dog colonies across the state.

Bobcats are beautiful creatures and look so cute as kittens. But make no mistake, these are wild animals and efficient predators. And beware because your housecat or small dog could easily be on their menu. Please guard your pets at all times.

How many bears do you see in this photo? This yearling was spotted near an elementary school Thursday in #ColoradoSprings . School officials did just the right thing: they called @COParksWildlife and sent their own security out to keep people away until the bears moved on. (1/3)

Another @COParksWildlife #RESCUE ! This owlet fell out of its nest in the heart of #ColoradoSprings . CPW Officer Cassidy English was able to locate the nest and put the owlet on the same branch. The owlet's mother owl kept a wary eye on English, watching from a nearby tree.

CPW is reluctant to sedate wildlife because it can be so stressful on them that they die. In this case, CPW Officer Aaron Berscheid massaged and rocked the deer to revive it. After some tense minutes, the deer began to move. Ultimately, it sat up and recovered under a deck. 2/2

This walleye would be a state record for length except for one thing. Cole Philip, a @UCCS junior and pitcher who is from California, landed the monster walleye Monday night at @COParksWildlife 's Brush Hollow State Wildlife Area south of #ColoradoSprings . It was 31.75 inches. 1/3
