Like their namesake the lynx, green lynx spiders are athletic predators, able to put on a burst of speed and jump many times farther than their body length. They also hunt like the big cats, slowly sneaking up on their prey then pouncing. Photo: Meredith Stroud/USFWS

Boss: Teach the people about wildlife.Me: ๐ŸŽถ Yo, listen up here's a story, about a little guy that lives in a blue world ๐ŸŽถ. Eastern bluebirds are found through the eastern half of the country - year round in the south and returning to the north!. ๐Ÿ“ท courtesy of Gordon Garcia

Why does this swift fox look like a first grader's drawing of a fox come to life? . Swift foxes are native to the prairies of the Great Plains. They're about the size of housecats and feed on pretty much any smaller critters they manage to catch. Photo: Scott Somershoe/USFWS

Any-fin is possible when you cast away your troubles. Weโ€™re proud to say that more than 340 national wildlife refuges provide excellent fishing getaways. Nothing beats casting a line into golden waters at sunset. except for maybe a staring contest with a great blue heron.

This is a beaver. You can tell by the way it is. ๐Ÿฆซ. Beavers have stocky bodies, flat, hairless paddle-shaped tails & long, chisel-like teeth. A few things that are not a beaver include, but are not limited to, muskrats, nutria, groundhogs & prairie dogs. ๐Ÿ“ท Robes Parrish/USFWS

What a tool! We're talking about that bill, of course. Curve-billed thrashers use that curved bill to clear leaves and other vegetation and debris from the ground while they look for the invertebrates they eat. Photo: Tom Benson, CC BY-NC-ND 2.0

Winter is a great time to spot birds that normally spend their time far away. Redpolls spend summers in Alaska and northern Canada. In the winter, they may travel as far as northern Texas! Have you seen any?. ๐Ÿ“ท Courtney Celley/USFWS

Sometimes you just gotta get out and soak up some rays. Like other snakes, copperheads are ectothermic (cold-blooded). When the heat of the day isn't enough to keep them moving, they sit in the sun to absorb heat. As always, give wildlife space so you both to feel safe. ๐Ÿ“ท: USFWS

In the winter, moose mostly eat woody plants but theyโ€™ll also scrape snow with their hooves to search for food. You may even see them along roadsides searching for salt!. ๐Ÿ“ท Courtney Celley/USFWS

Hoooo whooo made that sound? This owl doesn't hoot like many other members of its family, this is the Eastern screech owl. Their call sounds like a high-pitched descending trill or whinny. Have you ever heard their call? Did it give you the willies? . Photo: Melissa Cheatwood

๐ŸŽถ Just another marten Monday ๐ŸŽถ. Even though they're considerably larger than squirrels, American martens are still very agile and can even catch red squirrels in the trees! Their sharp, curved, semi-retractable claws help them climb and grip on the go. ๐Ÿ“ท Courtney Celley/USFWS

Those aren't potatoes! They're Florida manatees keeping warm at Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex. They rest along the sandy bottom of the spring as they conserve their energy and seek shelter in the warm (72 degrees Fahrenheit) spring waters. ๐Ÿ“ธEmily Jung/USFWS

The photo was taken from the refuge visitor center two days ago when the temperature was a balmy -10 degrees. Looks like Saturday is bringing some warmer weather to that region. ๐Ÿฅถ.

"I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!". Ruffed grouse only weigh about 1 to 1.6 pounds, but they can look pretty large when they're all puffed up. When the snow is deep, they'll burrow for warmth!. ๐Ÿ“ท Courtney Celley/USFWS
