This good boy left his house in Cloverdale and went for a run on the freeway. Fortunately, one of our officers saw him and gave him a ride. Sonoma County Animal Services picked him up. We were happy to find out he had a chip and was quickly returned to his worried family. 😀🐶

We haven’t even been out here long and already stopped 3 high speeders for 91, 96, and 115 mph. You don’t need to speed to get those essential items. Please slow down!

Please don’t drive through standing water! This is Slusser Road north of River Road.
@SoCo_TPW
was actively closing the road at the time but the driver still drove around and got stuck. Whether the road has been closed or not, don’t attempt to drive through!
Officer Crone and Officer Bronson responded to US-101 near Todd Rd where this white German Shepherd was called in for running on the freeway. They were able to make the capture & took him to a pet care hospital where his owners located him later in the afternoon. Great job guys!
Masked CHP cadets pose at a a safe distance with

WINDSOR AND HEALDSBURG ARE STILL EVACUATED! Do not attempt to drive around the cones! Do not line up at the off-ramp to talk to the officer! We can’t have a line of cars stopped on the freeway.
Santa Rosa CHP welcomed new members to the family this week. Officer Blanchard, Officer Costa, and and Officer Perez just graduated the CHP academy and are ready to start the field training process. Welcome to Sonoma County!
@CHPCareers
Meet Tug. He went for a run on SR-1 near Hagemann Ranch today. Officer Q was on patrol and drove up while cars were swerving around him. Officer Q offered Tug a lift and he jumped right in the patrol car. The owner was contacted and we’re happy to report Tug is home safe tonight.
US-101 is closed in the Windsor/Healdsburg area due to poor visibility and fire to the east of Arata Ln. The closure will begin in the northbound direction at Airport Blvd and on the southbound side at Dry Creek. Please avoid the area.
Thank you
@49ers
for hosting the CHP and all first responders yesterday for the third annual First Responders Appreciation Day. It was an honor to be apart of the flag ceremony! Tough loss but it’s ok, win the last two games and we’re back in the 1 seed.

We have extra units working tonight along with
@SantaRosaPolice
to combat sideshow and street racing activity. Dozens of these vehicles congregated at the Kohl’s parking lot in SR. Just so happens Kohl’s is where we met up too.

The man, the myth, the legend is retiring! Santa Rosa CHP Officer Dave Spencer is hanging up the motor boots after 30 years of service. He’s a great guy and always had a story to tell. We’ll miss you Dave, but most importantly, CONGRATULATIONS!
This afternoon, a couple of our officers helped out someone down on his luck. The driver ran out of gas and couldn’t afford a fill up. The officers paid for and delivered some gas to get him on his way. Of course they couldn’t resist giving some love to doggy Jasper.
Healdsburg and Windsor are under mandatory evacuation for the
#KincadeFire
. We want everyone heading to a safe location by 4pm. This will give us all time to evacuate during daylight hours and before the
#PSPS
goes into effect. US-101 remains open at this time.
Due to the uncertain conditions of fire behavior and heavy smoke in the Windsor area, US-101 remains closed from from Airport Blvd to Dry Creek Rd.

131 MPH? 🤦♂️ There’s no excuse to ever go that fast. The driver won’t like the fine or the points on his record or the impound, but our officer likely prevented a really bad crash. Don’t be like this driver. Don’t risk another person’s life just because your car can go fast.
#Slow
Today was a special day as we welcomed back an officer who retired many years ago. Jim Emmons and his wife Barbara lost their home in the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Jim lost his retiree badge in the fire and today we were able to present him with a new one.

Terrible crash on the 101 in Healdsburg today. Driver was wearing his seatbelt and he walked away with only minor injuries. ALWAYS, ALWAYS wear your seatbelt. This is a shocking reminder how seatbelts save lives!
Good news! As of today, October 20, the Glass Fire is 100% contained.

¡Buenas noticias! A partir de hoy, 20 de octubre, el Incendio Glass se ha contenido en un 100%.
Last month a video was posted to social media of this vehicle participating in illegal sideshow and exhibition of speed activity. Our office immediately launched an investigation. Today the vehicle was impounded.
@petaluma_police
🤔 I thought we said to slow down! Well, let’s stress it again. Traffic is lighter, but the speed limit is still the same. We are out there to stop these speeding cars. A crash at this speed would be devastating, and we’re trying to prevent that.

We are full staffed and have extra units working this weekend. Since the shelter in place order, speeding citations of 100 mph or greater have increased by 87%. Slow down, we are out there. Stay safe and healthy!

On behalf of your local California Highway Patrol, THANK YOU Sonoma County. This is a great community to live and work in because of all of you. Stay safe on the roads as you visit friends and family today and know we’ll be there if you need us. Happy Thanksgiving!
This afternoon we were able to applaud

Whether on or off duty, if you work for the CHP in this area it is a common question to be asked “Do you know Steve Fricke?” Steve retired today after 30 years of service. We couldn’t be happier for you Steve and good luck in retirement. Congratulations!

These photos were sent in to congratulate the officer on a job well done. This morning we got a call of a turkey running on US-101. Officer Chavez safely stopped traffic and successfully directed the turkey to safety. Great job Officer Chavez.

Officer Salaun carries a 5 gallon backpack water pump in his patrol car. It’s usually used for boot cleaning or washing the patrol car but yesterday was an exception! Nice job!
Have a safe night tonight! Wear your seatbelt, put your phone down, don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve consumed an altering substance, and definitely don’t mistake yourself as a race car driver like this guy did.

Hey Sonoma County, while we have many beautiful roads and areas to visit, please obey the No Parking signs and refrain from blocking a roadway. It’s important to keep the roadways clear for emergency personnel including fire trucks.

Two high speed stops today. 92 MPH on Guerneville Rd, and 110+MPH on US-101 in Geyserville. There’s no explanation for driving that fast. Slow down please!

The Santa Rosa Area CHP Office would like to introduce our new Commander, Captain Randy England. Captain England has ties to the Sonoma County area. His uncle, Jim England, was an officer here many years ago. Welcome to the family, Sir! We look forward to working with you.
NO INJURIES because luckily nobody was inside the truck! Driver noticed a sign had blown over in a parking lot off SR-1 near Coleman Valley. He exited his vehicle with good intentions to stand it back up. Unfortunately he didn’t put his vehicle in park and it rolled off the cliff
This might look like the ocean at first glance but it’s actually a view above the thick smoke and fog on Stewarts Point Skaggs Springs Road this morning.

Major backup for a crash southbound US-101 at Todd Rd. Delays are extending up to College Ave currently. Avoid the area if you can. Cleanup is underway. Driver is ok after solo truck crash.

Your local CHP continues to vigorously enforce traffic and emissions laws to combat street racing and “sideshow” activity. Our last detail with

Chipotle is a popular place for cops to grab dinner so it was no coincidence to run into young Officer Spencer who was celebrating his birthday with Mom and Grandma. He turned 5 so there’s still plenty time to talk him into applying with the CHP. Happy birthday buddy!
