.@FireWiseNapa has initiated an important roadside clearing project along Sage Canyon Road in Rutherford. Roughly four miles of hazardous vegetation along the road is being treated with this project funded by @CountyofNapa. This project also incorporates roadside work that is being funded and maintained by the Hennessey Rector Fire Safe Council. It is part of a larger roadside clearance focus in the county to enhance safety and build fire resiliency. This project area serves as a vital artery for ingress and egress for Lake Hennessey, southern Pope Valley, Capell Valley and Lake Berryessa. It also protects critical City of Napa infrastructure, enhances access for firefighting resources and can act as a fire break to slow or stop the spread of a wildfire. #ReadyForWildfire #ResilientCalifornia @CAL_FIRE

CAL FIRE, in cooperation with @CAStateParks, plans to conduct a series of intermittent pile burns at Trione Annadel State Park, as soon as Monday, Feb. 10, and continuing Mondays-Thursdays through the winter and early spring months as conditions permit. This work is part of the park’s prescribed fire program and is being conducted to support ongoing vegetation management, roadside fuel reduction, wildlife habitat improvement and other long-term stewardship efforts. These pile burns are intended to reduce dead and downed woody material along park roads, near the park boundary and in other strategic locations to reduce the severity of future fires in these areas and to improve first responder access.

Saturday morning at 7:45 a.m. CAL FIRE/South Lake County Fire Protection District crews responded to a residential structure fire in Hidden Valley Lake on Stonegate Road. First arriving resources found a small fire on a second-story porch that they were able to quickly extinguish. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.

We enjoyed being out at the Lake Sonoma Steelhead Festival Saturday at the Milt Brandt Visitor Center and Congressman Don Clausen Fish Hatchery in Geyserville. It was great interacting with so many attendees and seeing the smiles on the kids faces.

With rain expected to continue through Friday morning, please drive with caution. Increase the distance between your vehicle and others on the road, and allow extra time for your journey. If you encounter a flooded road, turn around—don’t risk driving through. Stay safe!

Just a friendly reminder: Never drive around road closure barricades or attempt to pass through flooded areas. Here’s an example from Sonoma County, where two vehicles tried to navigate a flooded road. Stay safe and always follow road signs when driving!

Units from both the Napa County Fire Department and South Lake County Fire Protection District are part of task forces prepositioned Tuesday for immediate emergency response given the rain and flooding concerns. Engine 218 out of the Napa County Fire Department station in Angwin is part of a task force with other local government resources in Napa County. Then, Engine 6061 from South Lake County Station 60 in Middletown is on the task force formed in Lake County. A task force exists to improve emergency responses that are outside the scope of typical emergency calls and they help to bolster resources available to handle an increase in call volume.
