"I'm not yet ready to abandon the possibility of America", says Obama, echoing Biden's repugnant, repeated line that we've "never lived up to" our ideals. As if America is still some inchoate idea, pending approval until some future when we've been transformed by the Left. 1/2

@NewRightPoast The dialogue is so different in popular shows from the 90s—thirtysomething, party of five, my so-called life, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Felicity. People talk in this achingly earnest, sincere way. Striking contrast to the glib, snarky, sarcastic tone we hear from characters now.

@AuronMacintyre Why do we exert so much effort and spend so much money forcing kids into school who have no interest in learning? Compulsory education laws have some serious downsides.

@rogerkimball I’m glad to see the Trump campaign is taking on this upbeat, galvanizing energy. He’s bringing people hope. Yes, he gives people the litany of Biden’s failures and betrayals. Let it be clear where the blame lies. But he ends with this irrepressible optimism and patriotism.

@MattWalshBlog The closer people are to the basic activities of subsistence—making their own food, tools, dwellings—the more they hew to the male/female binary. No industrialized food system, no making a living through screens—> more rootedness in the body/biological reality.

@KamalaHQLies He was saying that leftist ideology makes women miserable—which studies have found to be true:

@AnthonyEsolen Relatedly, I'm always amazed when I come across an ordinary letter written by a high school graduate even just 50 years ago—in a history book or biography, for example—and it has more erudition and style than most of what you read today from professional writers. Penmanship, too!

@Aristos_Revenge Another factor adding to the pull of remote work/relocation: worsening public safety. SF may be the worst case, where Covid emptied downtown and then aggressive vagrants and drug addicts filled the void with tents, open drug scenes and chop shops. No one wants to go back now.

@greg_price11 FEMA is spending $875 million on all the migrants illegally entering the country. But for Americans living through an actual disaster, they won’t lift a finger?

@DefiyantlyFree When you say no one can opt out, does that mean kids get reprimanded for bringing their own lunch? It’s actually against school rules to feed yourself?

@BrianMerris @DarnelSugarfoo True, but it’s easier for a woman to get pregnant at 40 if she already has children. Having your first child at 40 isn’t the same.

@Empty_America My husband and I have been married 10 years, 4 kids. We’re so busy that when we do make time just to be with each other, I get excited about it the same way I would when we were dating and I’d be getting ready to go see him. Still feel the butterflies. Business has benefits! No

@RSBNetwork I think a lot of the people who think Trump is a madman, threat to our democracy, etc. could be disabused of that if they just listened to him talk. They might disagree, sure, but he's not the cartoon lunatic of the media's fever dreams. Yesterday's speech is a good example.

@PaulSkallas I was in Korea with my husband, visiting his mother, and while walking through the crowded city streets people were constantly bumping into me. I kept reflexively saying “sorry” or “pardon me” at every collision, until she turned and said, “you don’t have to say that here”

@sorrythatimraw I encountered a new form of car seat fanatic when pregnant with my fourth. The infant car seat we had used since the first baby was apparently set to “expire” around my due date. People were telling me to replace it and I thought they were joking. It cost $400! Seems like a scam.

@catholicindixie @michaelbd @JDVance1 He has been a populist for a long time—you can see in Hillbilly Elegy a deep concern for the struggles of working class Americans, the hollowing out of communities after the collapse of our manufacturing base, betrayal by elites. He worried 2016 Trump was just using populism to

@downi75 1) many people are a bottomless pit of need—love-starved and bereft of purpose/meaning; + 2) social media platforms are the addictive drug they use to treat the symptoms of 1)—coming out to the class is a performance for social media applause, the audience isn't just the kids

@SpiritedSparr0w This shows the deep wisdom of the natural law/Christian view: man and woman commit to each other in self-giving love, and the child is the fruit—the new mother then is protected and honored by the father. Cash and contracts can never do the same.

Every man needs a woman to make him a father. In the traditional way, he would pursue her, cherish her, vow to honor her for his entire life. But these men get their women with lawfare and cash. “Love makes a family,” they say. Do they love the woman whose eggs or womb they buy?
