Feeling conflicted and sad today. Chris made covering UCLA hell, partly because he relished being “the senior writer” on the beat, partly because I was a pompous 25yo who did questionable shit, partly because he was a consummate beat writer who cared about every bit of minutiae.
Ben Bolch reports that former Times staff writer Chris Foster passed away last night after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Covered UCLA and many things for the L.A. Times. RIP.

So sad tonight to hear of the passing of Andra Dellins, beloved wife of former long-time UCLA SID Marc Dellins. One of my favorite memories from the UCLA days was watching her receive a game ball from Rick Neuheisel after practice in 2009, as players gave her a standing ovation.

She battled illness for a long time but died peacefully, holding Marc’s hand. I spent countless days in the stands watching practice with her. She loved UCLA sports, and being at Marc’s side. Another sad day among many. My heart is with Marc and their family.

The Lakers meeting with Kawhi Leonard was Tues afternoon at a hotel in Westlake Village. Only Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka were there, at KL’s request. The location had been switched from El Segundo, at KL’s request, w/ in 24 hrs. It appears KL met with PG, nearby, same day.
