The Palestinians and Syrians are honorable and dignified people. What I have observed is that some charities exploit their struggles and causes as opportunities to grow their platforms and along with that, their bank balances. The easiest way to make money “legally” without questions being asked is to use charity as a front, cloaking it with Islamic jargon to avoid scrutiny. This fake religiosity masks the darkness in their hearts, as they exploit Islam to grow wealthier. It’s despicable, and the metaphorical “Bishop” or “Priest” of Salman Al-Farsi رضي الله عنه who stole charity funds is alive and thriving within the ummah. As an Athari, I don’t generally find the books of Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab to be problematic. I am aware of the historical context behind why he wrote Kitab At-Tawhid after returning from Basra, and Mufeed Al-Mustafeed following the issues with the people of Huraymila. I am certain if you adhere to this methodology, you will find problematic statements even in scholars you follow or admire. Sectarianists have no sense of fairness or justice, regardless of which spectrum you adhere to.
