A group of medical students who work with youngsters in places like universities informed me today that they have experienced Muslims leaving Islam due to exposure to extreme sectarianism. We cannot underestimate how detrimental sectarianism can be, and Allah’s refuge is sought.

The Sham scholars are some of the most beautiful and humble scholars I have met in my life—their character makes you in love with their religion, even when you disagree with them. It reminds me of the excerpt from the Hadith of our beloved Prophet ﷺ: ‘Visit Sham, for it is the best of lands of Allah, and the best of His slaves will be drawn there’ (Abu Dawud).

No. I advised you not to hold a provocative, polemical title attacking others, which you did. It’s like me holding a topic titled ‘The Reality of Wahhabism’, and then I smear campaign against you without being willing to have an academic debate with you so that you can defend your position, whilst holding the program in your town. But if you speak about what you believe to be true without any smear campaign against others, then that’s fine. I’m not holding a conference tomorrow titled “The Reality of Wahhabism”—I’m merely defending the position that these two theological schools are part of Ahl as-Sunna. I’m sure the difference is self-evident.

I only asked him what part of India he was from and I got blocked—I was genuinely curious.

Trump should give 10% of USA to the Israeli entity for them to settle there instead of asking the Palestinians to move. Neither Trump nor any other devil can make the resilient Palestinians move anywhere from their homeland. Why does America act like the dad of the world?

There are many. If you just look at Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Adam al-Ityubi (D. 1442/2020 رحه الله) who was a great scholar of Hadith, and resided in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, you will find he wrote several commentaries. For example, his commentary on Muslim is in approximately 45 volumes: AL-BAHR AL-MUHIT ATH-THAJJAJ FI SHARH SAHIH AL-IMAM MUSLIM IBN HAJJAJ. He also wrote a commentary on Nasa’i which I’ve used many times. It’s in approximately 42 volumes! The point is when I used the word ‘copious’, I wasn’t being hyperbolical. Do a simple google search, and you will realise how your comment is untenable, and, with all due respect, based on ignorance. Again, let’s not let our secteriansim makes us repudiate reality. :) May Allah bless you. Amin. NB: There are other scholars too.

@GuyReadingBooks No dear brother I was referring to the initial codification and compilation of the school, and not its developments and progressions over time.

@sukhanihadatha That’s not true. Salafi scholars have written copious commentaries. We should not let sectarianism blind us from the truth.

@abdul_now @Haqiqatjou I understand your perspective, Habibi. My comment was more about his strong aversion to all religions, particularly Islam. It would be interesting to see how he justifies his position and conversion.

About 15 years ago, I vividly remember the late Mufti Rafi Usmani (r.h), the elder brother of Mufti Taqi Usmani, saying in Masjid Abu Bakr (Bradford) that if there is one main reason why non-Muslims hesitate to embrace Islam it is because of the character of Muslims. He then gave several examples to illustrate his point. Unfortunately, this issue has become even more evident on social media. Sometimes we don’t even realise that we are pushing not only non-Muslims but even Muslims away from Islam due to our behaviour - and Allah’s refuge is sought. May Allah rectify our situation. Amin.

You can burn thousands of Quran and waste your time and money, but what are you going to do about the tens of thousands of children who commit it to memory every year? Burn in your rage.

One indication that many people are unaware of Ashari and Maturidi is that some who criticize these theological groups mispronounce their names. I heard one brother pronounce 'Maturidi' as if it were a dessert. Aqidah is simple.
