The book is particularly good if you’ve read the “Autobiography of Malcolm X” as Payne verifies/expands on various areas he discussed.
Lacked momentum at times but overall nuanced containing in-depth insights into Malcolm X’s road to a consequential civil rights figure 7.5/10

Without due process of the law, how can citizens have any faith that their rights will be protected and judges impartially?
All the five journalists and activists that stood trial in Erbil’s criminal court today were convicted to six years in prison each on vague charges of ‘threatening national security’.

Obviously students can be pricks sometimes or indeed most times but I believe the feedback forms are an essential aspect to helping ensure the development of classes that fits the learning needs of students.
I’m already dreading this years feedback forms. While they’re generally positive, some random comments are really hurtful. I had very rude insults in the forms (course coordinator decided to still send them on), comments on appearance, age, accent.

Turkey has successfully achieved two things. Firstly, it has made the Kurdish people, particularly vulnerable Kurdish asylum seekers in Sweden, into targets, thereby expanding its reach in dealing with pro-PKK Kurds, regardless of their level of involvement with the PKK..

Asylum seekers/refugees shouldn’t have to risk life and death on the pursuit of a better life. These countries are all complicit in the loses of life. I
Avin Erfan, 38, dies in hospital in Belarus, days after getting sick due to the frozen temperature on the Belarus-Poland border. She was six months pregnant and the baby has also died.
Avin is from Duhok, she was aiming to reach Europe with her husband and five kids.

The main issue with human rights is that it disproportionately protects citizens (due to its state-centric nature) over minorities, stateless people, refugees/asylum seekers.
This is reflective in the loses of life on European borders and ethnic cleansing measures by States.
