While focused on @elonmusk rather than out of control crime & overdose deaths, @NMDEMS in Santa Fe killed two needed crime bills in Santa Fe. HB 107, to increase penalties for Drug Trafficking & fix language dealing with Fentanyl. All Democrats voted to table (kill) HB 107 in the House Consumer & Public Affairs Committee. All @NewMexicoGOP voted 'YES.' Same for HB 136, that would have added Fentanyl exposure as Child Abuse. Addressing the scourge of Fentanyl and better protecting our kids should NOT be a partisan issue...
Democratic lawmakers are seeking a Treasury Department investigation of the access that Elon Musk's team was given to the government's payment system, citing “the potential violation of laws protecting Americans’ privacy and tax data.”

Keep public banks the way it's always been...with government oversight - not ownership! @repdgallegos @Janelle4NM @gail4nm @DerrickLente @Hd27Marian @rep_para The $50 million tax dollars proposed to fund HB 130 could be better allocated to needs in fighting fentanyl trafficking, education, healthcare, infrastructure, or other public safety needs. Say NO to HB 130 Public Banking Act.

90 days after a stunning defeat on election day, progressive, anti-business Democrats still wonder, 'Why did we loose?' Yet, tone deaf officials like MH continue to think appeasing radical environmental special interest groups over working class Americans will work. Forrest Gump nailed it: "Mama always said..."
Democratic senators are introducing a bill to terminate Trump’s executive order that prioritizes expanding fossil fuels over renewable energy.

Tell lawmakers to stop the latest gun grab law. Most, if not all law abiding gun owners have 'gas-operated' firearms that would be outlawed by SB 279. It's very common to have a standard magazine that holds more than 10 rounds that would be outlawed too. Legislators AND the Governor should focus on criminals - not law abiding gun owners. #nmpol

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: @TheNewMexicoSun @SearchlightNM @ABQRAW Better Together New Mexico Urges Support for HB 86 Human Trafficking Changes Santa Fe, NM - Better Together New Mexico (BTNM), a coalition representing hundreds of advocacy groups and thousands of New Mexicans across the state, is calling for the passage of HB 86, known as "Human Trafficking Changes." BTNM Founder and CEO, Carla Sonntag said, “This pivotal legislation aims to fortify New Mexico's legal framework against human trafficking, enhancing both victim protection and the prosecution of offenders.” Key Points of Support for HB 86: Eliminating Time Limits for Prosecution: This bill removes the statute of limitations for human trafficking cases, acknowledging the often prolonged silence of victims due to trauma or fear. This amendment ensures that justice can be pursued at any time, providing a pathway for victims to seek legal redress when they are ready. No Early Release for Traffickers: HB 86 also eliminates earned meritorious deductions (early release credits) for individuals convicted of human trafficking, signaling the gravity of these crimes and the commitment to keeping these offenders off our streets for longer periods. Protecting Our Youth:By raising the age of protection from sexual exploitation to eighteen, the bill offers greater safeguards for young people, making it a more serious offense to engage in sexual activities with minors under eighteen. Broader Legal Tools:The legislation includes human trafficking under the umbrella of "racketeering," thereby expanding the legal tools available to law enforcement and prosecutors to dismantle the organized crime structures that facilitate human trafficking. Enhanced Victim Support: HB 86 prevents victims from being charged as accessories to their own exploitation and ensures they receive support through the Victims of Crime Act, fostering recovery and rehabilitation. Larry Sonntag, a BTNM advocate and retired Captain from the Albuquerque Police Department said, “Human trafficking is a critical issue demanding immediate and decisive action. HB 86 is a comprehensive approach to not only target and prosecute criminals but also to provide robust support for victims. We need to create a safer environment for all New Mexicans, especially the most vulnerable. HB 86 does that.” For more information about Better Together New Mexico and its initiatives, please visit
